My self-summary
I've been in Boulder for five years and hopefully will stick around for the next fifty. When I moved here, I knew this was a good place, but I didn't realize just how great it actually is. The sunshine, the mountains, the people, and the even the nearby airport (which is sort of like Mexico being closer than Utah) combine make a terrific package.

I've spent most of life so far getting pretty much set career-wise, financially, and making great friends. I want a partner to join me on adventures and help me focus on enjoying the rest of life.

I'm somebody who loves learning about all sorts of things and rarely refuses to try anything once. I've dated enough women to know what I like in a partner. Does this describe you: While you do something you care about, you are certainly not a workaholic. You’re love to talk, realistic enough to understand that we won’t always agree (nor is that something you want), and not the type to get bitter when I seem intransigent. Also -- this is key -- you know how to relax and can give me space in my hammock sometimes.

Also, you're probably a little snarky. Maybe you're more than a little snarky. Actually, ideally, you would be Carrie Brownstein in Portlandia.
What I’m doing with my life
Work: I'm building some really interesting technology at a huge company that you've heard of. Before that, I was in startup land at a place you haven't.

Non-Work: Reading. Fixing up my house. Trying out hikes in my neighborhood. Happy hours with friends as often as possible. And looking for a good French conversation group -- parles-tu?
I’m really good at
Listening, staying calm, and repairing broken things. Usually, but not always in that order -- it’s amazing how often in life those skills are useful.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm quiet until I have something to say.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Mostly, I just don't think TV is worth the trouble of wading through all those commercials (I've never had a relationship with a cable company). I make exceptions for Sunday's on Fox: The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. are favorites. I get a bunch of HBO shows on DVD from Netflix: Big Love, Carnivale, The Sopranos, Mad Men, and The Wire (fantastic) are recent picks. One of my pics features a costar from unappreciated Longmire.

I'd usually rather watch a movie at home with a thematically appropriate cocktail rather than go to the theatre. According to Netflix, I like movies that are "gritty, foreign, and/or starring Billy Bob Thorton." I really had to sit with that, after they told me.

For music, I usually just subscribe to my friends' Spotify playlists. I like stuff that's all over the map. Modest Mouse, Britney (I heard "Perfume" for the first time last week, she's awesome), and Passion Pit are the latest I put into Spotify.

I eat out all over Boulder and I'm a good enough tipper that my drinks are often free. Via Perla's my current favorite, The Kitchen is where I go most. I don't understand why the Suns are popular or how anyone can tolerate the indoor part of the Pub. I would love it if you would join me in mourning the loss of the bar at The Outlook hotel.
The six things I could never do without
A pet (currently a grey cat named Spirit); occasional vacations; sheets cleaned not less than weekly; a fun car; a hammock or in cooler months a hot tub (i.e. the winter hammock).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Projects. I own a 112 year old Victorian house and an old Range Rover. There's always something to fix. Typically it involves a puddle.
On a typical Friday night I am
Somehow recharging. Happy hours on Pearl are a favorite, going out for a nice dinner, sometimes just sitting at home and cooking before watching a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
An self-inflicted injury sustained while kiting once sent me to the emergency room.
You should message me if
You think we might have something in common; you want to challenge me to a Scrabble match; you own a big friendly dog or you'd help me pick one out; you're more tender than everybody else assumes; you can share some fun fact that you don't think I'd know; you'd like to learn something random from me.

I am especially intrigued if you have access to a tandem bicycle.

You live in Boulder.
