My self-summary
Hmm... how to succinctly summarize myself: I'm an eccentric half-Chinese/half-Irish engineer, looking to meet someone new.

For a more in depth explanation: I grew up in a broken home, to parents of very modest means. I have worked very hard all me life to better myself personally and financially. This has led me to some interesting adventures, and I have met some very interesting people.

It has taken me a long time to understand who I am, and it would not have been possible without the guidance of some very good friends. They helped me to get a handle on a lot of anger and frustration I had bottled up.

I don't resent anything that has happened to me, good or bad, because it made the person I am today... and I like who I have become.

I am easy going, adventuresome, and inquisitive
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to live life to the fullest.

I have found that the best way to improve your lot in life is to get a good education, so I went back to school for a master's degree in Systems Engineering (Engineering Management) from the University of Virginia. Its an accelerated, one year, full time program, which has consumed most of my time until recently. Now, I just need to figure out the best way to leverage my new degree...

I'm looking for someone to share in the adventure that is my life. I believe you should go into a relationship unsure if this person is going to be your soul mate. The only way to figure it out is to date them for a while; until you have an idea of who that person is deep down inside. I can usually figure people out in just a few dates. In a nut shell, I feel that you have to date in the short term to meet a long term partner.

I’m really good at
I'm really good at seeing the links between things. A Zen master once said, "If you one skill, you have 1000 skills." In this he meant that all things are interconnected. If you can see the connections, you can apply your skills from one field to another.

I tend to be very adaptable, both personally, and with random household implements. You could say that I'm a MacGyver wannabe. My general fields of aptitude are strategic thinking (tactics/logistics), the hard sciences (physics, biology, chemistry), mathematics, scuba diving, and martial arts (Tae Kwon Do).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm very friendly and out-going. I like to laugh, make jokes, and generally have a good time. Admittedly, I can come off as crass or arrogent at first glance, though I can be a southern gentleman. The enviornment will generally dictate my disposition.

It's really hard to say what people notice about me first. I want to say it is something physical and superficial, but everyone that I seem to meet claims they get a "strange" or "wierd" vibe off of me... whatever that means. Perhaps someone could quantify that for the engineer in me.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A) Favorite Book(s): I enjoy reading anything Sci-Fi/Fantasy related. I have enjoyed reading Anthem (Ayn Rand), The Art of War (Sun Tsu), the Red Wall Abby series (Brain Jacques), Starship Troopers (Robert A. Heinlein), and the Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling). Since I spend a lot of time on the road, I have had the chance to listen to several John Grisham and Don Brown novels on tape.

B) Favorite Movies: Hmmm, not sure which movies. I do have a soft spot for KungFu flicks, and action movies with a decent plot. I find all horror movies funny. The worse the effects, the better the horror movie.

C) Favorite Music: I'm really diverse in which music I enjoy. It all depends on the mood that I'm in. Generally, I don't like RAP and R&B, but as with all things, there are exceptions.

At heart, I'm a Parrothead. I love all of Jimmy Buffet's music.

D)Favorite Food: Deep down, I love to eat. Some say it's a weakness, others just call me a human gabage disposal. In either case, I will eat most anything you put in front of me. If I have to choose a particular dish then I'd have to say authentic cantonese cuisine.

The six things I could never do without
Air, Water, Food, Family, Friends, Love In all honesty, I have spent so much of my life without much of anything. This lends itself to being able to do without many things. I'm a strong believer in self reliance, and planning for contigencies.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The universe and my place in it... Honestly, I spend my time thinking a lot of where I am in life and where I'm going. Where do I want to be? How do I get myself there?

I also spend (way too much time) time thinking about why people do what they do. What is it that makes a person tick (or tock)? I look for what motivates people, and why they think what they think.
On a typical Friday night I am
Most friday nights you can catch me a home, resting from a long week at work. If there isn't something that need to be fixed (there always seems to be), you can find me surfing the internet, playing video games, or watching tv. You might catch me out to dinner with my friends, lamenting about our work week. It's not uncommon for us to break down into friendly discussions on politics or religion during dinner.

Every couple of weeks, I get together with my friends and we have a Saterday game night.I won't deny it... I'm still into strategy gaming with my friends. For me, its a unique outlet for the creative side of me. If there isn't a game night, then you can usually catch me out hiking, camping, or generally exploring.

Every couple of months, I get all of my friends together, and we go SCUBA Diving. Sometimes it will be close by (Lake Rawlings), or we'll go to a more exotic location (Cozumel). It all depends on how much time we have.

I allocate one weekend per month to an Airsoft game. Usually, I spend about 3 hours training my teammates (friends) and then we spend the rest of the day playing games to reinforce the lessons.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have freckles... you just have to look for them. If you want to know more dirty secrets about me, you'll have to meet me in person.
You should message me if
Are you are interested in dating a half-Chinese/half-Irish engineer who breaks all of the stereotypes? Honestly, I'm just looking to meet nice people (in person) to see if we are compatible for dating or other activities ;-) I figure the first stage of finding that special someone, is meeting her.

I'm looking for a woman that spar with me about society, economics, politics and metaphysics. She must also be able to challenge me to better myself physically. Finally, I'm in search of a woman that knows what it's like to have nothing, so she can truly appreciate everything. In a nutshell, I'm looking for a woman that is smart, fit, humble, and sane.

Also, please let me know if you find misspellings, poor grammar, and inconsistencies. I don't usually read over my profile. Thanks.
