My self-summary
Ten things you might like to know about me:

1. Neither couch potato nor athlete.
I can do homebody but love getting out in the world. Let's take a road trip to a fun place near or far, or dress up for an evening at the theater or sample the menu at a new restaurant. Or play some volleyball, croquet or mini-golf. Or take an ocean walk or hike a reasonable mountain. Haven't zip-lined or hot air ballooned but you might persuade me; my daughter once convinced me to slide down Water Country's 10,000 foot high Geronimo. Okay maybe I'm exaggerating. Would you believe 5000 feet?

2. Love to share my world and experience yours.
Compatibility isn't matching likes and dislikes: it's give and take. Maybe you enjoy Dave Matthews concerts, kayaking and Downton Abbey and I prefer Benatar, speed walking and the Pats. We can share, do some things on our own, and get along just fine. And what about the need for solitude? Rosanne Barr: "My husband said he needed some space, so I locked him out of the house."

3. A grown man but still a kid at heart.
I've been a reporter, a TV news crew member, a pr guy for a consulting firm, and an entrepreneur -- yet still love to play table games, dress up for Halloween, build Legos, watch Toy Story or Captain America, hang out at Disneyworld, or get down on the floor with some blocks and a toddler. Being a grandparent allows me to do many of these things without looking like I've lost my marbles. Are you still playful too?

4.Love to talk - and listen - for hours.
Let's stay up all night chatting; there's so much we can learn about life -- and each other.
(I also enjoy making new friends. During my careers, I interviewed many people and usually find a way to connect. If all else fails, I put on a bicycle helmet and talk politics.

5. Can be passionate or peaceful and easy.
There's a time for hot romance and a time for simple, sweet snuggling. Still passionate about life, choosing gratefulness and forgiveness over bitterness and grudges.

6. Want to be someone you can count on.
And vice versa; trust, loyalty and compassion are the soul of deep relationships.

7. Like myself but not in love with myself.
I know who I am and make no apologies. Yet healthy self esteem doesn't mean always putting yourself first. One learns this via the Golden Rule, nursing a loved one, or parenting a child. Of course we are each responsible for our own well being, but as the Beatles said, "and in the end the love you take..." You know the rest.

8. Humor is like breathing.
Laughter is vital, like oxygen and chocolate. More Johnny Carson than Gallagher, I can be droll, satirical, or self-effacing but I will never stop trying to make you laugh.

9. Women are wonderful, especially mature women.
The late great Andy Rooney on 60 Minutes: "As I grow in age, I value women over 50 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why: A woman over 50 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, 'What are you thinking?' She doesn't care what you think. If a woman over 50 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting. Women over 50 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it....Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 50 is far sexier than her younger counterpart....Yes, we praise women over 50...Unfortunately...for every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 50, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize."

10. My heart is open.
I've had my share of loss in life but I'm resilient. Do you crave lasting intimacy too? If so, please don't hesitate to write. It'd be a shame if we missed each other.
I’m really good at
thinking out of the box...creating solutions...story telling... writing fiction...playing pop music on my keyboard (my singing? You won't hear me on The Voice!)...listening...making people comfortable... designing/furnishing...omelets...recycling
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: Thrillers, Comedy, Crime, Fantasy, Health and other nonfiction, even a good romance (Did you read "Our Souls at Night" ?) I consume a book or two a month; if someone recommends it, I'll give it a shot!

MOVIES: indy to Hollywood, anything Rotten Tomatoes gives a fresh rating

MUSIC: still love the sixties and seventies but I enjoy almost anything musical . Nothing more fun than live music in venues of all sizes though I prefer smaller venues over stadiums.

SHOWS: quality TV from Breaking Bad to Mad Men to In Treatment, very open to new stuff

FOOD: generally Mediterranean diet, but love Italian and other ethnics. I'll always go off the wagon for a tasty experience.
The six things I could never do without
writing implements, my g-kids smiles, my keyboard piano, Trader Joe's, close friends, sunshine - and you
