My self-summary
Outgoing introvert, wilderness junkie, Yankee in NC, hockey fanatic, policy nerd, and lover of thunderstorms.

I moved to Raleigh in September 2015 and I really enjoy living in the Triangle. Originally from Central NY, I have lived in 6 states on both coasts. I am hoping to be less nomadic in the years to come. Hoping by next summer I will be buying a home and adopting some ridiculous and adorable mutt from the shelter.

I am looking for a long-term relationship, and I would hope you are as well. I believe partnership, conversation, fun, coffee, adventure, support, and the sharing of chores are key to romantic bliss (ok, coffee is probably not a hill I'll die on). I am very open to dating folks with children, and I love dogs. Sadly I am allergic to cats.

I am hoping to meet someone active, creative, and engaged in making the world a better place...however they define that action. Bonus points for someone who likes to backpack, but if you don't that's ok too. Another important thing for me is to have my own life as well as my life with my partner. If going on the trail falls into the me-only side of things that's OK.
What I’m doing with my life
Seeking balance between the work and non-work bits of my life. Building relationships in a new city. Starting nonprofits. Waiting for hockey season to start again. Petting ALL THE DOGS.
I’m really good at
Understanding people
Coming up with creative ideas and communicating them
Telling stories
Planning adventures
The first things people usually notice about me
I am not very tall. I have tattoos. It takes me a while to warm up in big groups. I am quick to smile and to laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: Avett Brothers, Pearl Jam, The Civil Wars, Ryan Adams, Taylor Swift (guilty pleasure), Social Distortion, Iron and Wine, The Decembrists, Neko Case.

TV: Bones, Orange is the New Black, Grace and Frankie. If you are a GoT fan and you want to introduce someone to its wonders, I am your chance. I have not watched it yet and keep meaning to. May be a fun thing to do together.

FOOD: I am allergic to wheat, and I eat mostly paleo. In Raleigh I love Garland, Bida Manda, Provenance, Raw, and Coopers.

MOVIES: V for Vendetta, The Big Lebowski, Inglorious Basterds, Shawshank Redemption.

PODCASTS: Love love love me some 99% Invisible, for I am a beautiful nerd
The six things I could never do without
Coffee, nature, interesting conversation, my family, flowers in my home, something new to learn
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The next adventure, what I want to eat for dinner, how to get better at the sports I play, when I should enroll at NC State to earn a PhD
On a typical Friday night I am
I like to mix it up. Sometimes I am out visiting friends, and other times I really want to eat good food and watch something on Netflix. My favorite Fridays are when I am either traveling, or preparing for travel on Saturday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I decided when I moved to NC I would get my own apartment for the first time in my life. Why? Because pants are overrated.
You should message me if
You are hoping to meet someone with whom you can build a strong relationship that is filled with jokes, adventures, and good food.
