My self-summary
Once there was a smart, funny, talented woman full of wit and charm. During the days she taught , but at night she lived a rich full life, replete with adventure and fun. Most of the adventures were ordinary, like visits to the gym to do exercise classes, jaunts to the local pub, family dinners, and shopping. Then there were those that took her farther abroad like trips to India, Disney World, England, France, Spain, Hawaii, Mexico, and even a voyage to China to teach English. Yet there were also adventures that played out only in her mind, some guided by television and movies, others by web searches, many of the best came from books, but the most fantastical of all were those of her own imagination and dreamworld. If only she had a man who could match her in intellect and cunning, share those adventures with her and add another dimension to her life, then I would have it all.

Is that overly dramatic? Yes, and it's also not my best piece of writing but I thought I'd put something a little different up here for once.

Also, since I originally wrote this I've travelled to Québec to learn French and became completely enamored with it. Plus I moved into a fabulous apartment in a cool part of Calgary, and I just put together an end table and coffee table with a lift top, and I'm pretty proud of that since I'm not usually all that good at visual spatial challenges.
What I’m doing with my life
Substitute teaching, looking for a permanent position and working on self improvement.
I’m really good at
Fake tap dancing, cracking wise, getting people to talk to me longer than they ever planned to, and thinking deeply about things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I make a terrible Rocky Horror., but a fabulous Comumbia.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like to refer to myself as a Oncey, Throney, Whovian, Petterite, obsessed with the Rocky Horror Picture Show. If you get that at all then you're a nerd like me, and I like that. If not, I'm an excellent tutor.

I read a lot, mostly classics, fantasy, sci-fi and the odd popular favorite. My favourites include Gone with the Wind, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse, The Big Short, and Perdido Street Station by China Mieville, I'm also a big fan of A Song of Ice and Fire, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and when I was younger Animorphs.
I'm not big on movies but I also enjoy the classics, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, action/adventure and some comedies. Amongst my favorites are Donny Darko, Roger Rabbit, Logan's Run and of course, The Rocky Horror Picutre Show.
As for TV shows I enjoy Jeopardy!, any nature documentary,a number of forensics dramas, The Big Bang Theory, and certain cartoons, especially South Park.
For music I mostly like classic rock, with a bit of folk or new stuff in there. I also play guitar and sing.
In terms of food I'll try almost anything and I really enjoy cooking.
Six things I could never do without
Boris (my pet Russian tortoise)
The Internet
Midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show
Beer and someone to drink it with
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'm doing with my life, why the world is so screwed up, how I can fix problems that are within my power, what I would do if I had superpowers, how just beyond the glass is a forest full of immense trees even inside the city and beyond that is a sky that's bright and beyond that deep dark possibly unknowable space, which book I'm going to read next, finding someone special to share my life with, and what I really want to get out of life most of all. Except for the other 20 hours of the day when I'm thinking about the Rocky horror Picture Show.
On a typical Friday night I am
Coming home from some random school I was teaching at, maybe hitting the gym, going for a drink, rediscovering Calgary. Hopefully the answer will soon be going on a hot date.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I knit, badly.
You should message me if
You're a smart guy who's smart enough to be interested in meeting me.
