I love adventure, in whatever form it chooses to present itself to me. I'm not great at planning my adventures, but it hasn't gotten me into too much trouble yet. I try to keep myself occupied with some form of artistic endeavor at all times. When I'm not working on a project, I love gaming. Any kind of gaming: tabletop, cards, video, board games; whatever it is, I'll probably play. I love music more than I love food, and I take a shot at making my own from time to time too. I really enjoy outdoorsy stuff too, but I don't like going by myself, and none of my friends are into it, so it rarely actually happens. It takes me some time to warm up to new people, but I'm actually pretty easy to get along with. I love to discuss all sorts of things, so don't hesitate to send me a message.
Books: I mostly read sci-fi and fantasy. Asimov, Gaiman, Pratchett, and Jordan to name a few names. I also enjoy all manner of nonfiction, but I don't really have any favorite authors there.
Movies: My cinematic education is broad but sadly not very deep. I'm doomed to forever leave people slack-jawed that I haven't seen this or that. My knee-jerk response for "favorite movie" is Primer, but I also enjoy flicks by Tarantino, Miyazaki, and the Coen Brothers. I unapologetically love the entire Matrix trilogy. If you'd like to expose me to something I should have seen but haven't yet, I'm always down.
Edit: SHIT HOW DID I FORGET MONTY PYTHON. If the mere fact that I failed to list it at first is a deal-breaker, I don't even blame you.
Shows: First of all, if you're going to be really pretentious about "not watching TV," we're probably not going to get along. It's one thing to just have other interests, but the short-form serial is perfectly capable of being an art form. That it has been popularly misused is unfortunate, but that doesn't mean it should be ignored.
(god after that little diatribe my selections are going to look really mundane but whatev)
Doctor Who, Sherlock, Supernatural. Yeah, I'm one of THEM.
Been getting into Hannibal and Bates Motel.
I would LOVE to watch American Horror Story some day.
I also love anime. Nothing will ever knock Cowboy Bebop off of its golden throne for me, but I'm a fan of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Shingeki no Kyojin, FLCL, Last Exile... hell, if you're into anime, just ask me about that. I'm sure we can talk for hours.
Music: My tastes don't follow any discernable pattern (except, I'd like to think, "good.") Recently my playlists have been a mix of post-rock, really hipstery electronic shit, and hip-hop. You'd be hard-pressed to find a genre I don't have at least an album in, though. I also love talking about music, so if you've heard something recently that you love and want to share, please let me know!
I LOVE to cook, as well. When I'm cooking for myself I tend towards Asian-inspired cuisine, and I won't pretend part of that isn't because it's really fun to cook with a wok. If you want me to cook something for you, in whatever style, just name it.
Joining the Peace Corps. I can't think of many things I'd rather do than see the world and do some good at the same time.
How best to use my position of white male privilege for good and not evil. (Is that even feasible? I don't know. Can I do more than reblog infographics? Probably.)
The Future, in as broad a sense as possible.
What to say to people when I first message them. If I've visited your profile five times and haven't sent anything, it's probably because I'm sitting here overthinking this.
You love cats, and art, and music, in approximately that order.
You like to chat about a broad range of interesting and usually nerdy things.
You want to go on an adventure.
You want to go sing karaoke with me.
You just want to hang out and have a drink, or smoke a bowl, or whatever's your pleasure.
