My self-summary
Currently seeing someone who's pretty great, but always up for meeting new friends and introducing them to my awesome single friends ;)

Ahhh, grad school... My life is nutty and busy and interesting and completely overwhelming. I disappear for long stretches of time, but occasionally log in to procrastinate some impending due date.

I'm not cool - cool is too close to cold - I would rather be warm.

In a terrifyingly verby yet unorganized list: I like hiking, learning, swimming, biking, cooking, chatting, innocent-pranking (no one gets hurt!), baking, live theater, gardening, exploring, dancing (especially east coast swing & lindy), knitting, singing, playing tag, debating, color (and occasionally coloring), storytelling, doing yoga and acroyoga, improv, playing guitar, loitering, horse back riding, live music, laughing, crafting, walking (with or without dogs), watching, listening, pondering, teaching and generally plotting mischief.

Previously, I lived in the mountains, near the Grand Canyon and I miss stumbling out of my front door into the woods, hiking in my "backyard" and visiting the national park on weekends.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a grad student. My life is chaos. Interesting chaos. Relatedly, I'm in the Plant Mafia.
I’m really good at
meeting new people, training dogs/cats/horses, listening, writing parody song lyrics, baking, gardening, pondering, word-play, improv, public speaking, tomfoolery, falling at inopportune moments, random knowledge and SCIENCE!

Things I am somewhat-bad at but enjoy immensely:
playing guitar, playing tag (freeze tag, zombie tag, etc), being on time, having a sense of direction....
The first things people usually notice about me
I do an excellent velociraptor impersonation. Seriously, it kills.

Recently, it's been brought to my attention that I am an extreme extrovert - ye be warned~
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
There's a lot out there to love in books, music and movies. Here's a "shuffle" sample.

Food: homemade > all. Saag, Masala, pho, pizza, and most of the domesticated brassica family tend to be main staples.

Books: the giving tree, jurassic park, anything dr. suess wrote, tales of a shaman's apprentice

Movies: the brotherhood of the wolf, finding nemo, fired up, Casablanca, Princess Mononoke, finding neverland, love and other disasters

TV (as seen from a DVD player): the office, arrested development, the animaniacs, the dog whisperer, modern family, raising hope, game of thrones

Music: live music (almost all, but especially bluegrass & swing),

"I'd rather be nine people's favorite thing than a hundred people's ninth favorite thing."

"I've been a fool for lesser things"

"my lyrics are bottomless............"
Six things I could never do without
Earth, critters, warmth, plants, fun, swimming

But really, I'm not volunteering for those Mars missions.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Genes. Social justice. Animal Behavoir. Effecting positive change in education. How to be the person my dog thinks I am.
On a typical Friday night I am
Swing dancing, adventuring - which can include boldly doing laundry where no sock has been before! Or generally milling about with fun folks.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I'm alone in the greenhouse, I sing to my research plants.
You should message me if
you have something interesting to say.

Send me a message if you want to have adventures, cause trouble, sing songs, play with dogs, and/or dance in the rain.

Have you ever heard a friend say, "I got lucky," when describing their relationship with their partner? I want a relationship where both parties think they're the lucky one.
The two of us
