My self-summary
I'm Dan

Ok, as you probably gathered from my profile name, I'm a Vegan. So, yeah, I love animals (&, obviously I HATE plants).
My family and friends mean alot to me, and I like spending a lot of time with them - though I am happy in my own company too.
What I’m doing with my life
Mostly reading, I like learning about lots of different things. I'm also working on getting my health back on track after 7+ years with Multiple Sclerosis. This had taken a bit of a setback as I switched treatments about 10 months ago and the new meds have had some pretty nasty side effects, and my health has deteriorated quite a bit over that time. I'm seeing my Nuerologist soon to hopefully get this sorted out and I'm also signed up to the local NHS sponsored Get Active programme so hopefully things will be back towards a positive momentum soon.

(I know you're not supposed to mention negative things in these profiles, but I believe in beign honest and upfront about things - and I also realised this is a lot to take on for a lot of people, which is why I'm currently looking more for friendship with maybe the possibility of more in the future.)

Basically I'm trying to figure out what the hell I actually want to do with my life.

Any suggestions are very welcome.
I’m really good at
Pub quizzes! I'm a font of useless knowledge.
I also spend a lot of time cooking awesome Vegan food, singing along to Johnny Cash songs, guessing correctly how movies and TV shows will turn out, sketching, making a mess, forgetting stuff, always being there to listen and help when the people in my life have a problem they want to share with me.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my long hair (pic may need an update!) or whichever of my collection of unusual and or carved walking sticks I'm using that day.
Oh and if I'm in a particularly healthy period they probably don't notice me at all and notice the large Collie-Rott named Rufus I'm walking. (He lives with my folks when I'm to ill to look after him properly :(.)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love books. I read a wide variety - some more serious, like Night by Elie Wiesel, The Ancestor's Tale by Richard Dawkins, and Feminism is for Everybody by bell hooks - some less so, like Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis, Coraline by Neil Gaiman and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and some I'm ashamed to mention! If you're interested, I keep a list on Goodreads - I usually set a target of a 100 or more books in a year, but have been rather off my game the past year or so.

Talking of games - I have way way way to many (I recently did a rough estimate of my Steam library, and if I never bought another game and played 20 hours a week it would take me till about 2056 to complete them all!!) So if you're into (PC) games, I probably have it and I'm always happy to share :D

Movies - again, I watch a lot of different kinds of film - everything from Superhero movies, classics, drama, comedy - to many to name really! Just rewatched Young Frankenstein - had forgotten how good it is and had never apriciated before how great the cinematography was - it perfectly matches the aesthetic of the James Wales Universal films.

TV - Breaking Bad (Walt is the bad guy people!), The Wire, Game of Thrones, Adventure Time. Better Call Saul.

Music - again, lots and lots of different artists (thank you Spotify [actually, now Google Music] {{Now Apple Music as I finally succumbed to the allure of an iPhone!!}}) - just a random(ish) few : Johnny Cash, Billy Bragg, Leonard Cohen, Bad Religion, Joni Mitchell. I saw Against Me! live a couple of years ago - they are awesome; I LOVE Laura Jane Grace ;-) x (had tickets to go see them the end of last year but couldn't make it due to travel problems :(.) And a big fan of those we have lost recently - Lemmy, Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed, and of course David Bowie. I've been listening to BlackStar over and over since his death, it's a masterwork.
Six things I could never do without
I don't know why, but this always throws me.
Books (curse you eBay!)
Friends & Family (which includes my animal companions)

Oh, and Industrial strength pain killers!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The books I read.
Political and social issues. (I did mention I'm boring, right?)

How come we don't have hoverboards yet?
What happens if you press the big red button that says "Don't Press"?
On a typical Friday night I am
At home, reading, watching Netflix or Now tv, cooking for one (I would prefer to cook for two though ;-), listening to music and playing with Rufus (dog) and Ella (cat).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't really keep much private - if someone asks my something, I tell them.
Erm, I cry at sad movies & books. (The Iron Giant always makes me cry!)
I know WAY to much about comic book characters.
You should message me if
If you like to talk, hang out etc. I want more brilliant people in my life, and this seems a great place to meet them!
