My self-summary
Disclaimer: I am neither vegan nor a velociraptor.
Disclaimer 2: This profile is no longer in use, I can be found as SatyrBear

Life has been an interesting ride so far. I have walked the path of excess and found crumbs of wisdom. I gazed into the abyss and the abyss averted my gaze. I am a fun loving, adventure seeking, freespeaking guy who can keep you engaged in conversation for days.

I enjoy a loving, caring, open marriage with primatology, if ethical non-monogamy does not suit you, we can still be friends.

TL/DR: Smart, kind, loving, sex/body/gender positive. Mostly harmless.
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying it. I go around and carry a heartload of poetry instead of baggage.

What keeps me busy:

I teach kids to read, the ones who can't learn without special attention and the ones the system forgot to educate.

I work with bees. Beekeeping is part of what I do, but mostly I study about bees and help others be better beekeepers.

I help out with the invertebrate collection at the AMNH.

On Saturday mornings I work at a petting zoo. Some people go to therapy, I go to the petting zoo.

I have a fuckton of personal projects. These include fixing up my yard (previously neglected for years) and learning how to bake the perfect loaf of bread.
I’m really good at
Explaining things
Being levelheaded
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm foreign but they could never guess where I am from.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I think that the most influential authors in my life are Julio Cortázar, Jorge Luis Borges, Umberto Eco, Virginia Woolf, Kurt Vonnegut, Alejandra Pizarnik, Douglas Adams, Edward O. Wilson, Jared Diamond, Marguerite Duras and Kobayashi Issa.

Movies: There is a special place in my heart for Stanley Kubrick because he was the first "serious" filmmaker whose work I came to know. A sample of my taste: The Colors Trilogy, Kung Fu Hustle, the movies of Akira Kurosawa, Jim Jarmusch, Jon Cassavetes, Ray Harrihausen, several superhero movies and cult classics such as Conan the Destroyer and Reservoir Dogs.

Music: Mostly contemporary classical (I never liked the oxymoron, but what can you do?), metal and jazz. There are several South American singer songwriters who can make me cry. I love Fado, Tango and The Blues. I never get tired of Andrés Calamaro, Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.

Shows: Seinfeld, Samurai Champloo, Firefly, Game of Thrones, Attack on Titan, anything by Chuck Jones.

Food: An adventurous eater, I am always eager to learn how to make or enjoy great food. I am a decent baker and good cook. I love spices and well crafted beer.
The six things I could never do without
Late night conversations
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth."
-Umberto Eco

Evolution, especially the evolution of humans and social insects.
On a typical Friday night I am
Having a wonderful time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a profile on FetLife.
