My self-summary
Well, after a lengthy absence from OKCupid, I'm back to try my luck!

I'm a good man looking for a good woman to love and who can love me in return based on similar interests, shared values, and mutual attraction.

I'm a big guy with a big heart, and I don't take myself too seriously.

I work hard. My job can be stressful, and like to relax as well to wind down.

I'm a man of many interests. Music, Art Museums, Photography, Snowboarding, Astronomy, and Yoga (the hot variety), long walks, and going anywhere near or far to be in nature are some of the ways I like to spend my time when I'm not working. I like the beach, the mountains, and the desert. I'm endlessly fascinated by the sky. The sun, the moon, the stars, and especially clouds.

I'd describe myself as independent. I woke up one Tuesday morning last October and decided to take a trip by myself to New York the next weekend for Halloween. What a great time!

I know it sounds cliche, but I really am a gentlemen. Why don't you find out for yourself?

I'm loyal as long my loyalty is not abused. I've been at my current job in the electronics industry for 30 years.

I'm Honest to a fault. Why try to fake your way through life. It's stressful and you'll be found out eventually anyway.

I readily admit my mistakes and apologize when necessary.

Deeply Spiritual but not religious.

I take good care of myself and you should too.

My best qualities become more apparent over time.

I'm definitely more into daytime activities. Well, now that I think about it, there are some nighttime activities I really like too ;-)
What I’m doing with my life
Exploring. I'm always willing to learn, and find new ways to have fun.
I’m really good at
My job, which is really technical
Public speaking
Good with technology
Asking questions
Remebering names
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm tall
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read mostly non fiction, biographies, history, philosophy, science and spirituality. I do like some fiction however. The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Road, and Chekhov's short stories are works of fiction I've enjoyed.

The writing for cable TV is pretty good right now. I just finished the first two seasons of Catastrophe on Amazon. I watch a lot of Charlie Rose. I'm constantly blown away by how thoughtful, intelligent, and talented the people on his show are.

I really like foreign and independent films. I miss uncluttered and more intellectually based science fiction. Bladerunner might be my favorite movie of all time. A recent SciFi film I thought was great is Ex Machina. I like old B&W movies too.

I've never been to plays but would really like to go. One of the wonderful things about life is that there are always new things to explore.

I like all types of music almost without exception, and my favorites are classical and blues, both of which I know really well. I have played bass semi professionally for over 20 years in blues and rock bands. I sit in occasionally with an Irish band too.

If somebody told me I had to pick one type of food only for the rest of my life, I would have a hard time choosing between Mexican and Italian. I really like Indian food also. I'm 90% vegetarian, but I'll have some meat or fish once or twice a week. I eat mostly organic and avoid fast food chains and MSG.

OK, if you've made it this far and you haven't fallen asleep by now, here's the really important point:

I like new experiences, and would be curious to learn more about what interests you. One of the best things about my past relationships is that they opened up my horizons to new ideas and gave me a greater appreciation for the people and world around me.
The six things I could never do without
I'm finding that the older I get, the less I care about material possessions. There isn't anything in my life that couldn't be replaced except for my dad, my cat, and my friends.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How grateful I am for this life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Playing a gig, watching a movie, out on a date, or with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I think out loud, and it sounds like I'm talking to myself. It's actually fairly common in only children.
You should message me if
None of what you just read about me really matters if there isn't any chemistry, and the only way you find that out is by meeting someone in person. It's a big, complicated world out there, and men and women are little complicated worlds unto themselves. So if you're attractive, have a brain and some similar interests or interests of your own and might like to share them with a big, kindhearted guy that isn't too unpleasant to look at, then I would really like to hear from you. Oh ya, let's not forget about the chance for a little romance too, or a lot if we both get really excited about each other!
