My self-summary
I've always hated trying to write about myself. I always feel so awkward trying to describe myself and my interests. I've always done a lot better in face-to-face personal interactions and believe that it is the best way to really get to know someone. However, writing about myself is required especially if I want to meet new people and have them get to know me so here I go....

I'm a down-to-earth, fun and goofy guy looking for someone to have have fun with and who is interested in getting to know one another.

I grew up in Northern Minnesota/ Wisconsin off of Lake Superior and then I moved to the east coast for 10 years for grad school and work. I came back to be closer to my family and because it’s nice to be in a city that has a few more trees in it (the opportunity to find a house with a yard that won’t run me several million dollars in nice too).

I’m a pretty big nerd, especially when it comes to policy, politics, world history … I can probably blame West Wing for all of that. But I really like the idea of engaging with the world, exploring other cultures and making a difference. I'm also a big science fiction fan and love science.

I really like to travel, both globally and locally. I would love to camp more and my brother and I keep talking about taking a train trip out west (he did it a few years ago and I think it would be fun to go again). I did a lot of family fishing trips to Canada when I was a kid and love to explore the National Park System with my friends now. I had a great time at Yellowstone a couple of years ago.

Books, Art, History, Architecture, Museums, Science, Space Exploration. I really like exploring and learning about new things. Good martinis, whiskey, wine, beer …

When I’m not busy working I’m probably hanging out in a coffee shop reading, out taking pictures (photography is a hobby of mine and I just recently upgraded to a Nikon 7200 Digital camera) and exploring the Twin Cities and learning about this city. I can fall into habits with my favorite places, but I love discovering new places to try out.

So, in summary, I’m a outgoing nerd at heart (is secretly afraid people think he’s dull) who loves the outdoors, traveling and finding adventures, and hopefully someone who wants to explore with him.
What I’m doing with my life
I moved back to MN to continue my career at 3M, so I've been spending a lot of time working towards making my a name for myself at the company. Planning my political take over of the world....jk. In all seriousness though I've spent a lot of time figuring out how I can make a difference in the world. Binging on Netflix, enjoying good food (I’ve gotten pretty good at cooking up salmon or lobster at home—a little cheaper than always ordering it out). Finding new books to dive into. Hanging out with my brother. Traveling when I can. Looking to meet new people and trying to enjoy life one day at a time.
I’m really good at
Haha—talking about politics? Really, I like good conversations and I’m a good listener. The talking part, well, sometimes it takes me a little bit to warm up with new people however once I do I can be pretty engaging.
The first things people usually notice about me
My blue eyes and great personality.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I read a lot of non-fiction, I currently have bookmarks in Straight to Hell: True Tales of Deviance, Debauchery, and Billion-Dollar Deals by John Lefevre and A History of Strategy by Lawrence Freedman. Always flipping through policy and business journals. I love Science Fiction and Fantasy (I love the Game of Throne books and I devoured the Star Wars books when I was younger …). I like political thrillers (Barry Eisler, Vince Flynn, John Grisham…). I’m currently reading Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey.

Music: Music: I’m all over the place. Sometimes it’s the stuff you hear on the radio, sometimes classical, sometimes it’s something from the other side of the globe. Spotify and YouTube are very much my friends.

Movies: I love going to see movies. Sci-Fi, Action, Drama, Comedy, Horror. Star Wars, Star Trek, Iron Man, The Avengers, Sherlock Homes, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Fast & The Furious series, Legends of the Fall, Seven Years in Tibet, World War Z, Zombieland, old movies, new movies

TV Shows: GoT, Roadies, How I Met Your Mother, Walking Dead, Blue Blood, West Wing, Firefly, Blue Bloods....

Food: I love trying new things. Japanese, Spanish, BBQ, Italian, Indian, Chinese, German, American. I’m pretty interested in trying most things at least once (but maybe don’t try to give me an Andrew Zimmern challenge)
The six things I could never do without
1. My Family (one of the main reasons I moved back to the Midwest)
2. My Camera
3. A good book
4. Netflix
5. Outdoors
6. A good cup of coffee
I spend a lot of time thinking about
This is where all of the stuff that I focused on when I was getting my degrees really asserts itself. I’m always thinking about what’s going on in the world of business, foreign policy and politics. I care a lot about the world we live in and I’m fascinated by the mechanisms running it. I like planning trips and outings with friends.

Where do I want to be? What do I want to do next? The norms that plague most people.
On a typical Friday night I am
Maybe this should be “what do I want to do on a typical Friday night”—Usually I’m unwinding at a coffee shop with a book or at home with a bottle of wine and a movie. I try to get out with friends whenever possible. I love meeting new people and being out having new adventures. However, It can definitely be hard after losing the normal social outlets college campuses provide and being somewhat new to the Twin Cities.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I could tell you but then I would have to kill you...lol
You should message me if
I'm currently looking for someone who wants to hang out and have fun while trying out new places and experiencing new things. If it develops into something more that is awesome.
