My self-summary
I'm looking to meet some new people. I have a solid core group of friends but I'm always interested in expanding my horizons. Things get so busy it's hard to meet as many new people as I'd prefer. I love to learn new things and experience new places! I try to do as much as traveling as possible. In the past year alone, I listened to the call to prayer in Sultanahmet during Ramadan in Istanbul, I sailed the Greek Isles and watched the sun set over Santorini, rode horseback across the hills of Ireland and strolled the streets of Dublin during St. Patrick's Day, was awestruck before Michelangelo's statue of David in Florence, camped out on Times Square for New Year's Eve, attended an ancient play in the 2500 year old Greek theater of Epidaurus outside of Athens, strolled over the original stones of the ancient forum alongside the Colosseum in Rome, excavated a portion of the 65 million year old KT Boundary in New Mexico, cruised the canal waterways of Venice and trekked the more than 13000 ft to the top of Imogene Pass in Colorado. I wish you knew the wonders I've seen... so many beautiful things. I'll be perusing the Prado and sipping sangria in Seville come March! All that being said, I'm not always so serious! I actually do laugh a lot and joke around quite a bit. ;)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a high school science teacher by day, college professor by evening and caped crusader by night. Teaching is my second career as I am a former professional recruiter. I attended UNT with degrees in Philosophy and Biochemistry. I graduated from Texas A&M - Commerce with a Master's in Physics and I'm working towards a doctorate level degree in Education with an emphasis in Chemistry.
I’m really good at
living, debating, gaming, learning, annoying people, solving problems, being easy going yet adventurous. There's a lot of life to live! I just want to live some more of it.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am well spoken if not pedantic. I have been accused of being a contrarian for arguing all manners of points and problems. Some people see this as menial and a waste of time but I am fascinated in developing richer ideas, opinions and well thought out arguments. That doesn't mean I don't also tell funny stories and make sarcastic remarks, though!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Most recently, I've been reading Stephen Hawking, "Universe in a Nutshell." For my classes, I've been reading on general relativity and special relativity. I have A Song of Fire and Ice loaded on my Kindle, but I don't know when I'll get around to it. The last fiction I read was The Time Machine.

My favorite movie is probably the Matrix. Yes, all of them. I think the first movie set expectations for the rest that left some feeling misled. I enjoy how the movies still operates effectively on different levels of analysis while still bringing high level philosophy to the cultural center. I also highly enjoy Memento, the Lord of the Rings, the Meaning of Life, Shaun of the Dead among others!

I watch a lot of random TV shows. I love to watch science fiction series and I've seen quite a few... but as far as shows still in production I enjoy such shows as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Game of Thrones, and the Walking Dead.

I love food. I enjoy trying all kinds, types and genres. I like going to nice restaurants but I love small local places that serve up quality. There aren't really any foods I explicitly detest but I do prefer certain ones more frequently than others.
Six things I could never do without
Internet. Friends. Games. Education. Sustenance. Conversation.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
everything. I've been accused of always having an opinion about something. I'm actually more confused when people do NOT have an opinion on a certain topic. I've been known to come up with random thoughts completely off topic, to suddenly answer questions from an hour ago (what was the name of that song!?) or to slide in a random sarcastic joke. That being said... I'm actually more fun loving and easy going than my writing style lets on. I am quick witted but not silent and brooding!
On a typical Friday night I am
trying to find something interesting to do! I love going to theater, sporting events, museums, shows or just out with friends. I try to do things on Fridays because it makes my whole weekend feel longer. If I do nothing on Friday, I don't feel like my weekend has began until Saturday... so I've lost an entire day!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Almost anything. I'm a very honest and straight forward person... to a fault for some. I'm definitely not shy!
You should message me if
You're independent and don't require someone else to make you happy for you. You don't have to conform to gender roles. You'll open doors for guys and girls both and enjoy paying your share. You don't require someone to take care of you but enjoy it when they choose to do so anyway. Your easy going but respectable. You noticed when I just used the wrong homonym.

You're not supermodel skinny but you care enough about yourself to stay somewhat in shape. You enjoy exploring the world and learning new things. You want to push your boundaries. You're adventurous in and out of the bedroom. You love culture both high and low. You can be nerdy or classy as the situation requires. You think the best thing about life is living it.

For the negatives... You don't believe in deities nor do you have children. You don't have a minimum wage job when you should have a career. You're not anti-intellectual or a prude.

But mostly... you think we could talk and have fun together. I think all good things start with that solid foundation!
