My self-summary
I'm a runner, educator, dog owner, jazz lover, football nut, guitar player, traveler...
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an 8th grade U.S. History teacher here in Alachua County. I love what I do, it keeps me on my toes. Everyday is an adventure... in some way.

I just bought a 1985 VW Westfalia. It's simply awesome. I've wanted to own a VW camper since I was in high school. (Check it off the list). I can't wait to take it across country next summer.
I’m really good at
Getting organized, educating, strumming the guitar, reading, eating well, racquetball, distance running, walking my dog, traveling & canoeing.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm positive, thoughtful and curious... if I do say so myself.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Kerouac, Mark Twain, Alan Moore, Christopher Moore, Orwell, Ayn Rand, Steinbeck, Hemingway and so on.

I love music. I'd say it is the most constant, sensible thing in my life. I'm a big jazz fan. Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Louie Armstrong, Nina Simone, Buena Vista Social Club & John Coltrane. On the more contemporary side... Modest Mouse, Radiohead, Death Cab, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Neil Young, Pink Floyd & Bob Dylan.

As far as movies go, there are so many amazing films its hard to whittle down a list. Some favorites are The Princess Bride, The Life Aquatic, The Godfather & Saving Private Ryan. I'd say my favorite shows as of late have been Dexter, The Walking Dead, In Treatment & Sherlock.
Six things I could never do without
In no particular order, I swear...
My dog, Obie
Friends & Family
I spend a lot of time thinking about
When, how and where I'll travel to next, time and resources, history, how perfect it'd be if Socialism could really work, music, running, reading, how to make the most of my life, ways to be an effective teacher and whether or not I'm spending enough time with my dog.
On a typical Friday night I am
Running, reading, writing up lesson plans, hanging out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've always had this obsession with the idea of how cool it would be if there really were zombies. I'm talking dumb, slow moving zombies. The kind that aren't to hard to kill but keep you on your toes. More like "Night of the Living Dead," than "28 Days Later." If you know what I mean...
You should message me if
You are fun, have an adventurous side & full of good intentions.
