My self-summary
I'm an artist, mainly with words, but anything creative, even making stuff pretty on a plate (when I was a professional cook). I love working with words and language. My main deal is novels. The job is just for paying the rent. I've published a decent amount of different kinds of writing over the years--one novel (ebook 2011). Songwriter/musician--I get gig offers from stuff I've posted online. RPG campaign designer. D+D anyone?

Love: Cooking with friends. Video night. Big, old theatres (Neptune/Cinerama/Egytian). Great books. Jamming/composing/recording. Booky coffee houses. Dive bars. Brainstorming recipes (food/blender drinks) with/for my friends. Outdoor events: Capital Hill Block Party, Street Fair, Shakespeare in the Park, Linda's Fest, SakuraCon, Theatre Schmeatre at Volunteer Park, cult movies--Central Cinema, RHPS. It's a big old beautiful world out there--puts me someplace between peace and bliss. I have this strange(?) love of people in costumes/performance art, whether it's bands or Shakespeare or street buskers on the Hill late Saturday. I saw street buskers who blew away the "real" bands at the Street Fair a couple years ago.

Things fall apart. The center can not hold. Unless you're with somebody.
I’m really good at
Reading up on stuff, owning it: C programming, websites, obscure musical scales, stir-fry (rice = yum), screenplay writing.
The first things people usually notice about me
Lanky. Big hands. Big feet.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: William Gibson, Nabokov, The Sound and the Fury, Anne Rice, Margaret Atwood, James Elroy, Charley Huston, Chuck Palahniuk, Irvine Welsh, Faulkner, The Road, No Country For Old Men, Stephen King, Brief History of the Dead. Jason Matthews.

Movies: The original King Kong, English Patient, Forrest Gump, Bladerunner, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, Watchmen, True Romance, Ichi the Killer, Miyazaki, Bride of Frankenstein--most thirties monster movies. J-Horror. The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Twisted Flicks.

TV: Parks & Rec, The Borgias, Rome, The Shield, Lost, Venture Bros, Metaloclypse, Doctor Who, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Arrested Development. Gotham. True Detective.

Music: Leonard Cohen, Beastie Boys, Moby, Public Enemy, Portishead, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Sex Pistols, Husker Du, Mudhoney, Ladytron, Laurie Anderson, Kate Bush, Stones, Beatles, Peter Gabriel, Bowie, Elbow. KEXP--I've been listening to them since it was KCMU 90.5. Raw Power. Black Angels.
Six things I could never do without
This intensely stimulating city to fuel my creativity. Urban art, graffiti, interesting alt people, handbills, loud punk rock blaring out of Neumos. I've lived on Cap Hill for 20 years and I'm spoiled for these things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
One of the buildings outside my window is this ugly pile of dull steel during the day, but at night they light it up with these beautiful white lights. It makes it black with white streaks...exactly like a White Russian! I drink White Russians, but only in the winter because they just feel like that to me. And I can only see this building during the winter because the leaves block it when they are extant. Is this magical, or what?

I also think about the fact that on Capital Hill the Iliad Apartments are right across the street from the Troy Apartments. Has anyone else ever noticed this?
On a typical Friday night I am
Seeking to eat great food, cocktails, watching a great movie(s).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I hate semicolons--they're flaccid colons.
You should message me if
Life should be fun.
