My self-summary
I am a fairly well adjusted individual that is re-adjusting to living solo. Not necessarily looking for that long term relationship but not hiding from it either. Would like to meet someone that wants to have fun and discover life again. So many things to catch up on and old dreams to pursue. Sound familiar?
What I’m doing with my life
Eager to start phase II (Doris already got her oats..if you get this we may be on the same wavelength) of my life. Been working the same job since I was 21 and have already secured my retirement, now I'm looking for that one thing that drives me for the remainder of my time in this world. Possibly return to a post grad program that I abandoned several years ago in education and history. Maybe teach or chase down history and join an archeological expedition to find the Holy Grail. For now I'm going to have some fun and well deserved me time.
I’m really good at
Working under pressure, like after I've procrastinated on something. Cooking, grilling, creating recipes from old world cuisine to various regional styles...local seafood,Cajun etc., using herbs from the garden and locally available ingredients. Don't care to be politically correct when it comes to food...meat, real butter welcome. Also homebrewed beer. I own as many if not more kitchen tools as I do power tools.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably the lack of hair, then my smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a history junkie so I read mostly about the ancient world..Rome Greece, Egypt etc but also modern history. For fiction I like historical novels, imagine that and those about the supernatural, good and evil and the devine. Recently read a nine volume version of the Arthurian legend that is like none other that I have ever read called 'The Camulod Chronicles' by Jack Whyte. It is set in the chaos of lawless ancient Britian with the withdraw of the Roman Empire and it's legions in the fourth century. Love Dan Brown's way of weaving history with fiction and the realm of the mystical. I am currently reading, 'Caesars' Wives, (sex, power, and politics in the Roman empire)'. Listen to most music but do not like rap or any of it's variations. Prefer classic rock, blues and some select country. Also enjoy listening to Classical music, particularly the Russian composers. The Beatles are my favorite. I do confess to not keeping up with the latest music(I've become my parents), but I like alot of the music from groups such as Nirvanna,Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Nickleback, Creed and Metallica. Favorite movies...wow! I'd have to start with the Godfather trilogy, then A Bronx Tale, Casino, Scarface and Goodfellas. Other than mob movies I'd say, Braveheart and Gladiator, Patton, A Christmas Story, Blazzing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and Monty Python stuff.
Six things I could never do without
Besides the obvious, air, water and food, the support of my family, a handful of life-long friends, then coffee, a GOOD craft brewed beer and music.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The many roads my life has taken and how my choices effected this path. How each day presents a new fork in the road and a new set of choices. Life is a quantum quagmire. Esoterical matters of the universe, or contemplating my belly button. These are actually related...we came from our belly buttons and our spirit returns to the universe. Not exactly Steven Hawking but close enough.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, where ever that may be.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Now if I admit it, it wouldn't be private. Maybe just one thing, I never thought I'd find myself here but....
You should message me if
You want to, if you would like to hang out and have fun realizing good things take their own time. Remember the old ad campaign, "There can be no wine before it's time"?
