My self-summary
I hate self-summaries, I'm not good at talking about myself normally, it's almost impossible in just a few sentences. If you're reading this it is probable that this site has indicated we have SOMETHING in common...if you're really curious about just what that might be, go ahead and message me...or don't, that's cool too.

I am calculating, quiet, and oblivious
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I'm living in Huntsville, AL. I was a contractor at NASA MSFC for 4 years until the Constellation program was cancelled and got laid off, but I am back at work in the industry with a new company.
I’m really good at
I can juggle, and can play games (video, board, or otherwise) well. I am good at several sports despite a general lack of athleticism; I love basketball especially. I also run and bike as my health allows. I gravitated towards math and science in school, but I always scored high at all of my academic pursuits.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably that I'm being quiet and reserved, which makes it even harder to notice anything about me! It takes a bit of prodding to get me to talk, but once I'm your friend I have trouble reigning myself in.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books) Fantasy novels, mostly (WoT, ASoIAF, Dark Tower) but I try to branch out to other fiction and non-fiction. I don't identify real strongly with particular authors or books however.
film) favorite directors include: Coen brothers, Wes Anderson, Christopher Nolan
music) Radiohead, Grandaddy, the Flaming Lips, Super Furry Animals, Fleet Foxes, Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, all sorts of other stuff...I'll give anything a shot although I stay away from pure pop.
shows) I don't watch much TV but Parks & Recreation is probably my favorite thing on TV right now.
food) Well, I enjoy food but I don't really have a strong preference for anything.
Six things I could never do without
Family, Music, Books, Free Will, Games, Philosophy
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about nothing. I'm very Zen in that way, and very not Zen in almost every other sense.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably watching a DVD or out with friends at a bar throwing darts and drinking crappy beer (actually, now that I and most of the people I know are not graduate students, the quality of the beer I drink is much higher).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
In real life, I can be annoyingly close lipped. I think I like to appear as mysterious as I can, and I don't know why. I like to keep private things private though.
You should message me if
You have the patience to get through my non-responsiveness and general suspicion of online interaction--I want to give this site a better shot than I have in the past, but it's a little hard for me to pay attention to it. Or if you like any of my favorite bands, I'd like to meet people who have similar musical tastes. Favorite bands include: Radiohead, Sigur Ros, The Flaming Lips, Grandaddy, Fleet Foxes, DJ Shadow, Lyrics Born, the Shins, Blackalicious, Blur, Morning Benders, the Strokes, the Pixies, indie rock in general.
