My self-summary
Hi, I'm Zel! (Fake name, because internet.) Let's make this part concise and to the point, shall we?

--I love God and try to grow closer to Him every day.
--I love people. I like a good mix of A) big get-togethers with lots of buddies and party games, and B) small quality-time gatherings of very close friends.
--I write slam poetry, creative fiction, feminist articles, and lengthy political rants on Facebook.
--I geek out over the books and movies and music I love. See the appropriate section below for many many details.
--I work as a tutoring manager and teacher at a test prep company. Teaching is more than just a job, and I'm proud to define myself as a teacher.

--A Christian with a deep commitment to a personal relationship with God.
--A partner in crime who wants to build a great life WITH me--not FOR me.
--Desire to take physical intimacy slowly, including saving sex for marriage. I'm all about hugs and my cuddle power is over 9,000, but I'm not interested in casual sex.
--Confidence, self-awareness, and passion: no matter WHAT you're passionate about, passion makes everyone engaging and interesting to talk to.
--Geekiness can only help!

What I’m doing with my life
If this question is asking what I do for money... I'm a tutoring manager and teacher for an education company. I teach prep classes to help students do well on standardized tests. I have a bachelor's in English and Latin and five teaching certifications, so teaching is a natural choice.

If this question is asking what my life is all about... I'm pursuing a deep relationship with God, with friends, and with ideas worth championing. I spend most of my non-work time at poetry slams, watching movies with friends, or getting not-last at pub trivia.
I’m really good at
Tetris. Like, REALLY good.
The first things people usually notice about me
My very loud voice. I bend through alleys and bounce off all the buildings.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Bible's at the top. I'll give any kind of book a shot, but my favorite genres are 1890s Victorian fantasy and modern dystopian fiction. Notable titles: The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, Kissing the Witch by Emma Donoghue, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells.

Movies: I'll watch a movie for any reason: comparing to the book, making fun of awful whitewashing casting choices, getting in a good two hours of James McAvoy fangirling. I gravitate toward fantasy, sci-fi, and smart action movies, and I love anything by Park Chan-Wook and Stanley Kubrick. Notable titles: Snowpiercer, Mad Max: Fury Road, Dr. Strangelove, Stalker, District 9, The Raid, Black Swan.

Shows: I watch a lot of cooking shows as background noise while I'm working on poems. The shows I really follow are Hannibal, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, and Bob's Burgers. I'm a recovering anime nerd, but I still hold onto some favorites: Monster, Baccano!, Revolutionary Girl Utena, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Musicians: Mostly classic/hard rock and heavy metal, with some indie thrown in. Notable artists: Metallica, Muse, The Sword, Owen Pallett, Florence + The Machine, The Mountain Goats, Jack White, The Black Keys.

Food: Italian and American usually take the cake, as does cake. I love to cook at home and explore new restaurants.
The six things I could never do without
1. A job. Not just because yay money, but because I love to stay productive and accomplishment is important to me.
2. My phone. It houses my poem notes, my lifeline to my friends, and Google--the external hard drive of the modern mind.
3. My cat Furiosa. Bitey-ness and all.
4. Poetry slams, a full schedule of them.
5. The pork tenderloin sandwich at The Steeping Room.
6. Dresses. Classy enough for formal occasions but still lazy and comfy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why I'm a Christian with a strong moral code and yet so in love with every horrific villain I encounter in fiction. Darth Vader was my first love... come on, power is sexy.
On a typical Friday night I am
--Playing Guitar Hero
--Prowling I Luv Video like a sullen hoodie-wearing hipster
--Binge-watching Hannibal for the nth time with my friends
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I occasionally watch Monster Jam. If you don't know what that is, then congrats, you didn't grow up white trash! (It's monster truck racing and trick routines. I used to own a Grave Digger plushie. Like I said, white trash childhood.)
You should message me if
You want to engage in a serious discussion about whether James Bond is a Time Lord or an honorific title that gets passed around among endlessly dying MI6 agents.

Or if you know a good pasta place.
