My self-summary
I'm a guy who thinks too much, laughs too much, and is interested in way too many things (think too much spare time on Wikipedia). I actually used to read newspapers for a living, so that may tell you something about me, or it may not. I like a lot of different kinds of movies, and books,-I'm pretty easily entertained. Animals and people (ok, some people) are something that's always fascinated me; I've gone to Lake Tobias and the Aquarium in Baltimore at least 3 times apiece. Also swimming (really anything water-related, I've recently gotten interested in kayaking) and the outdoors. Those pictures above are not totally accurate-I am not as hairy now, and thinner, and a bit grayer (long year). Also I'm usually better dressed. And yes, there are better pictures of me out there than the profile one. Just not that I can get scanned anytime soon.

I enjoy traveling, exploring, and just talking- I'm stubborn sometimes but a good listener and very comfortable with emotions. Books, movies, whatever-I just like learning and having fun! I also love thunderstorms and the outdoors.
What I’m doing with my life
I've had a lot of varied experiences in my life (working in a casino was interesting/depressing), and the result is that I'd like to use my creative talents and get paid to do it, as well as trying to spend at least an hour a day in the gym/pool. I'm also seriously considering going back to school to get a degree in journalism.

Until recently I was employed in a residential facility for kids who have emotional and mental issues, and after finding out I really liked working with kids I transferred to becoming a sort of academic assistant to a child with autism. I tried (and still do) to help in providing them with a stable framework to deal with and overcome their history and difficulties, and that work continues presently but in a different sphere (and more one-on-one work, which I enjoy.) So far it's been a challenging and exhausting ride, but I hope it's doing them some good, and I'm really happy with my choice of career.
I’m really good at
Reading. Making people (including myself) laugh. Starting to write odd stories and never finishing them. Helping people. Going out and exploring new places and people. Being patient.
The first things people usually notice about me
Sometimes my smile, or more recently it used to be my facial hair, since it is naturally red and I am not a redhead. No idea where it came from, we're not a redheaded clan. Had to shave though. Aside from that, I have not asked and do not know. Note: I've shaved my face since that picture was taken, though I may grow it back.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
No teen sex comedies, or brainlessly "heartwarming" films. I want something with a little oddness or pizzazz. I like bad movies just for the amusement factor. Also, big on Game of Thrones.

I like all kinds of books, really, especially history (currently reading one about the history of the Papancy and Rome).

Music: Pretty much anything except stereotypical country or gratuitously vulgar rap. 90's classic rock is good-I'll just change stations till I find a song I like. Also NPR, though that's not really music.

Food: I like a lot of different types, and am exercising regularly to curb that affection. Don't like eggs on their own, not sure why. Or raw tomatoes, though sauces are good.
Six things I could never do without
Swimming (it's so commonplace and extraordinary)
My ability to learn
My hands (stop, you have a dirty mind, I'm just very tactile)
Money (I'm not greedy or anything, it just seems like an obvious answer)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything that interests me: politics, science, people, the world. Really never stop thinking, which can be damned annoying.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends or curled up with a good movie or book. Depends on mood or finance.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I worry more about other people than myself.
I wish I could see my life and self more clearly.
You should message me if
You're interested in learning about life and want someone along for the adventure who can listen, laugh, and learn along with you.
