My self-summary
I worked as an engineer for 30 years and I was married for 17. Now I've been retired for one year, and I've been a single father and widower for 11 years. My nineteen year old son just went off to college (Fall, 2014) so I've got a new, empty nest.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm taking piano lessons and I love the beauty of my neighborhood, and if you're interested you can check out both here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTFFVkyvdCM

Update October 2015: I'm still taking piano lessons, but now it's jazz only, no classical. Now I'm rehearsing regularly and sometimes performing with the Eddie Jordan Jazz Band:

Here's a list: Paul Thomas Anderson, Jane Austen, avocado, John Barth, Beatles, Ingmar Bergman, brocoli, Ray Charles, chicken, Chopin, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Miles Davis, Debussy, Duke Ellington, Dylan, Steve Ericson, Freaks and Geeks, Gershwin, Macy Gray, Al Green, Herbie Hancock, Levon Helm, Lightnin' Hopkins, hummus, ice cream, John From Cincinatti, Angelique Kidjo, David Lynch, Bob Marley, Natalie Merchant, Nabokov, Joyce Carol Oates, pasta, pho noodles, Polanski, Smokey Robinson, Martin Scorsese, seafood, David Sedaris, Six Feet Under, Steey Dan, Szchewan, tofu, Mark Twain, Van Morrison, Tom Waits, David Foster Wallace.
Six things I could never do without
I wouldn't like to live without: people, music and literature, being active, beauty and justice.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend time thinking about: people, music and literature, being active, beauty and justice.
On a typical Friday night I am
rehearsing with a jazz band in my garage studio.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm the grandson of a Methodist missionary who spent 40 years in China.
