My self-summary
Let's see... I just moved here a month ago, after an extended sabbatical of travel. Before that, I lived in New York for 6 years. Before that, I was in San Francisco for a little bit. I grew up in a small country that people have rarely heard of, especially outside Europe.

Ambitious but not competitive. Rebellious but not confrontational or argumentative. Usually quite outgoing but often pretty introspective. Hedonistic. Believer in work-life balance. My friends are my family and my family are my friends. My iTunes library is more organized than anything else in my life.

"One should respect public opinion in so far as is necessary to avoid starvation and to keep out of prison, but anything that goes beyond this is voluntary submission to an unnecessary tyranny." -Bertrand Russell
What I’m doing with my life
I am doing a PhD. That mostly involves interacting with way too smart people, poking around in the lab, and playing tennis during work hours. Oh, and I also spend a lot of time at that dive bar down the street.
I’m really good at
Languages, making mojitos, grilling meat, hand-rolling cigarettes, math, flirting with old ladies and hasidic jews, exerting peer pressure, and always being 10 minutes late.

I'm a good skier, but a pretty terrible snowboarder. Bad surfer. OK windsurfer.
The first things people usually notice about me
Swedish? Nope.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Belle & Sebastian, The Smiths, The New Pornographers, Yo La Tengo, Pavement, Okkervil River, Pulp, Destroyer, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Fleetwood Mac, Dirty Projectors, My Bloody Valentine, Beach House, Teenage Fanclub, The Magnetic Fields... I also like some/most of the new indie stuff that hipsters listen to, Slovenian punk from 70s/80s, and pretty much everything that was ever recorded in Brazil.

The Life Aquatic, Lost in Translation, City of God, Blue in the Face, Black Cat, White Cat, Krzysztof Kieślowski's Trois Couleurs, and everything Wes Anderson, Jim Jarmusch, Roberto Benigni and Woody Allen (except for Midnight in Paris, whatever happened there...). The video projector in my living room is constantly calling for more use.

The Wire. Nothing else is even remotely as good.

History of Western Philosophy, Unbearable Lightness of Being, Tropic of Cancer, The Selfish Gene, David Sedaris.

Greek yogurt, olives, prosciutto, lamb burgers and oysters.
The six things I could never do without
morning coffee, lunchtime banter sessions, aesthetic pleasures, travel, record player & records, aaaaand... water?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Moving to Barcelona. Hydrothermal vents. Whether I should get a tattoo. How living in New York is turning me into a person I never imagined I'll become.
On a typical Friday night I am
watching ice cubes melt in whiskey.
