What I’m doing with my life
I'm a sociologist. Recently finished a post-doc. Now I'm freelancing, doing research/writing related to labor and inequality. One of my current projects is on workplace democracy.

Also trying to leave more time for making music. And proper meals.
I’m really good at
Talking like kermit, adapting to new environments, making scrambled eggs, pullups, dance marathons
The first things people usually notice about me
People often say I'm laid back, though I don't always feel that way. I also get comments about my bushy hair, or people just start touching it. A bit creepy when it's someone I don't know.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The God of Small Things, A Fine Balance, Invisible Man, The Black Jacobins, Justice Interruptus, Capital, Angela Davis: An Autobiography, Democracy Realized, Envisioning Real Utopias.

Music: Talib Kweli, Asa, Ruben Blades, Jose Gonzalez, Bob Marley, Nitin Sawhney, Joao Gilberto, Nina Simone, Claude Debussy, Erik Satie, Tracy Chapman, The Roots, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Alicia Keys.

Food: dosas, pad see eiw, kimchi pancakes, spaetzle, lychees, banh mi, tacos, hot & sour soup, branston pickle, vegetable korma (the kind made with coconut milk)
The six things I could never do without
PJs (i.e., poor jokes)
running shoes
good beats
hope that a radically more egalitarian future is possible
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how pigeons can be vermin despite their lovely, iridescent feathers.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out and about
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was nerdy before nerdy was cool.
You should message me if
You laugh easily. You're progressive. You're active. You like to question received gender norms, including the notion that men should always take the initiative :).
