My self-summary
I watch a lot of movies and listen to a lot of music. I don't like clubs, bars, or crowds. My background is in languages and the arts (degrees in French and music composition), and now I work in software. I'm a huge theatre buff. I like concise, declarative sentences; people who continue to ramble on once their point has been made drive me bonkers. I make lots of rules just so I can break them.

I almost never make first contact because the thought of not getting a reply mortifies me.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm at a point in my life where I'm really rather content with things. I have a good job, good friends, good family, and generally don't feel I need more than I have. OK, that was a lie - I spend way more than I should on stuff I don't need. And yeah, ok, sometimes I feel it might be nice to have someone besides my retarded dog to keep me company. But other than that, I've really got no complaints.

I realize that ruminating on the things I don't want or need isn't a very good way to sell myself to the masses, but then I'm not looking for masses. I'm really pretty open, so say hi and let's take it from there.
I’m really good at
Music, conversation, my job, and getting what I want. I think I'm good at cooking, but of course that's subjective. I often wonder what it would have been like to pursue a culinary career. If for some reason I were to find myself in a position where I needed to make a change professionally, I think that's what I'd do.
The first things people usually notice about me
It depends on the circumstances of our first encounter.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
One of my regrets is that I'm not as well-read as I should be. I went to some good schools and my degree is in French, so most of my background in is francophone literature. I do enjoy Dan Brown and most books that are plays. I'm also a big fan of Calvin & Hobbes.

Cinema Paradiso, The Godfather (1, 2, and even 3), Star Wars (original trilogy), Fried Green Tomatoes, La Vie En Rose, Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, Legend of 1900, Babette's Feast, Old Orchard Beach: a Portrait, Pixar, etc.

TV Shows: I Love Lucy, All In The Family, The Office, Picket Fences, American Idol (auditions), Spongebob Squarepants.

Music: Ennio Morricone, Rachmaninoff, ABBA, Madonna, Barbra Striesand, Pink Floyd, Rush, Yes, Beethoven, Mozart, Debussy, Saint-Saëns, Paul Simon, Stephen Schwartz, anything Broadway. I'm also lately a big fan of the old standard and crooners: Ella, Louis, Frank, Bing, Bobby, you know the crowd.

Sushi, duck, virtually anything French, Indian, Thai, red wine (Bordeaux!), coffee.
Six things I could never do without
My laptop, my piano, my home theatre, wine, fresh air, privacy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Lately, how I get into the situations I do. Sometimes I feel like a character in a Hitchcock film.
On a typical Friday night I am
During the winter, home on the sofa. In summer, outside running with the dog or grilling.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My boss once referred to me as "one of the normal ones," which offended me a great deal.
The two of us
