My self-summary
I'm fun-loving, compassionate, independent, intelligent, and my sense of humor veers toward the dark. I spend a lot of time reading, doing yoga, cooking, and thrift store shopping. I love Rock Creek Park. I co-lead a meditation group and I'm active in the Jewish community - spirituality (but not necessarily religion) is very important to me.

I'm looking for someone who's laid back and who follows the beat of his own drum. I've been told that I'm not the typical DC personality, and I happen to agree. I'm not in a rush. I think everyone would benefit from enjoying the present moment a bit more. If you agree, drop me a line :)
What I’m doing with my life
I do research for a living, which suits my curious personality perfectly. When I'm not at work, I'm likely spending time with friends, running, reading, or enjoying some down time at home.
I’m really good at
Listening. Cooking, then eating. Making jokes, but knowing when it's time to be serious. Finding the perfect animal or baby gif to suit any situation. Farmers marketing. Getting lost, even with excellent directions.

I'm also somewhat of an animal whisperer.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love reading and like any proper librarian I'm never far from a good book or two. I'm paid to read the heavy stuff at work, so on my own I prefer fiction (especially historic) and books about Buddhism/meditation or pop psychology.

Favorite music: Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Radiohead, Lost in the Trees, Iron & Wine, The Everybodyfields, Sharon Van Etten, Beirut, Rilo Kiley, and Regina Spektor.

Favorite food: extra spicy anything, but especially thai curry.
The six things I could never do without
Books, tea, friends, yoga, coffee, and my adorable baby niece.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Dinner. Current events. The weekend.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with my awesome friends, doing Jew stuff, or having a quiet evening at home.
You should message me if
You like the outdoors, making me laugh, you're happy with your life and who you are, you have a high tolerance for coffee shop exploration, and you're Jewish.

I can't eat gluten (don't worry - I went to a real doctor and I'm actually diseased) so if sharing giant loaves of bread is your idea of the best date ever, we probably aren't the best match.
