My self-summary
I recently discovered that for $60 you can pet the penguins at the Shedd Aquarium. This has changed how I see the world in a big way. I wonder what else is possible.

I've been in the city four years now. I came here for an internship in neuropsychology, worked on a study of bipolar disorder in children, doing brain scans and psych tests for a while, and now I'm working at a company in Evanston and secretly aspiring to be a game developer.

My favorite sport is DDR and my favorite goat is the one that makes cashmere sweaters.

What I’m doing with my life
Going to Full Moon Jams, improv and Neo-futurist shows; trying new beers, helping run the young adult group at my Unitarian Universalist church; reading all the books I feel like I should have already read (current: The Picture of Dorian Grey); hosting/going to friends' parties; and sometimes playing on the swings at Belmont beach. I made a New Year's Resolution to study harder and work out more, but it didn't work out, so I changed it to "Host a retro Nickelodeon night at least once a week". Are You Afraid of the Dark Halloween was a great sucess.

I used to volunteer with ICAT (abortion clinic escorting), but I fell out of it once I started working full time. If you a social justice organization near Lakeview that needs help on weeknights you should message me.

I went through the Second City improv program (A-E) a couple years ago. This year I'm taking classes with the Neos, currently Let's Get Physical.

Oh, and for money I write code.
I’m really good at
Grilled cheese sandwiches. And omelets. Actually anything that needs to be fried and flipped. I have really good wrists for it.

Learning stuff, making fires, navigating Chicago, biking later into the winter than most. In college I was a theatre and psychology major, and I did pretty well at Directing.

Juggling. This summer I figured out three-club cascade, 3-ball Mill's Mess and 4-ball asynch fountain. Now I'm working on 4-4-1 and 3-ball shower with the left hand.

A lot of how I see the world comes from reading The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam in high school, a neuroscience book called Phantoms in the Brain in college, and The Sandman Series after college. My favorite novel is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, even if the first five chapters are a kind of blatant rip off of Harry Potter.

That was a joke.
Six things I could never do without
A pen, paper, and coffee.

My friends. I need them like the Doctor needs his companions.

My bike
Time to think
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"My mother said to me, 'If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk, you will become the Pope.' Instead, I was a painter, and became Picasso."
On a typical Friday night I am
Wrapping my head and this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0262640686. Probably with good beer.

Watching nerd fighter videos.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Once I had a dream where I met Death. She was great. She was funny, and sweet, and I could just feel how much she cared about everyone; she knew the best things about me and for a while I wasn't afraid or ashamed of anything. I had died, of course, and mostly we just screwed around doing ghost things and talking, and at the end I asked her, "What's next?" She said, "Well, there's heaven and hell, but I don't think you've decided yet." I woke up feeling more peaceful than I have in a long time.
You should message me if
You freak the fuck out every time you see a squirrel. Or a dog. Or a shadow that looks like a dog.

Like Don Quixote, you pit yourself against the grinding windmills of all life's little miseries.

You're a Carl Sagan fan, or if this does anything for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6ugFcwsgpE

You know who the eff is Hank.

You have a TED talk for me. Or you have your own ideas worth spreading.

You want to pet the penguins. Seriously. Let's go pet the penguins.
