My self-summary
I generally don't draw attention to myself and prefer to observe the world as it plays out. I make daily efforts to break life's complexities down to simpler concepts, and I ultimately decide that the only problem with this world is that people don't know how to be kind to each other - I'm on a never ending mission to change that by smiling at one stranger at a time and paying for the next person in line at Starbucks. On a lighter note, talk to me about volleyball, tennis, hiking, camping, skiing, craft beer, coffee, flannel, Cate Blanchet, space, China, manners, calisthenics, super powers, technology, materialism, bathing rituals, vinegar, dog breeds, evolution, or cheap wine, and we'll be fast friends. ENFP ✌️
What I’m doing with my life
I returned to the U.S. in July after living abroad for two years; I'm temporarily situated in the homelands working, saving money, and taking classes. The 5-year plan is move to a nearby city and be my own boss 😬 In the meantime, remembering how to American and how to adult.
I’m really good at
reading people and navigating social situations, Smash Bros. 64, finishing my food (and yours), jumping on the bandwagon.
The first things people usually notice about me
my height? Or maybe that I unapologetically shatter a fashion-don't from time to time.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Not an avid reader in the traditional sense, although my knowledge of the Harry Potter universe is almost embarrassing. I like to read NPR or the occasional political/self-improvement/cooking blog, and I'll spend the occasional evening tumbling through websites researching useless information about black holes, serial killers, dog training, conspiracy theories, or how to survive falling from a plane. These make for great impromptu campfire lectures 👌

I really appreciated the Kill Bill movies and I'm down for any Pixar any time. A few other greats off the top of my head:
Inception, The Dark Knight, V for Vendetta, Little Miss Sunshine, How to Train Your Dragon. Not into gratuitous gross-outs, and I love a good thriller, especially with a handsome guy by my side.

Television—Battlestar Galactica, Girls, Bob's Burgers, Breaking Bad, It's Always Sunny, Game of Thrones, Adventure Time, American Horror Story, Jessica Jones, OITNB, South Park. Current guilty TV is the new Degrassi series on Netflix. I'm so unashamed!

I can get on board with tons of different music styles, though my favorite sub-genre would be most accurately described as "lesbian synth-pop-dance" and I'm all about it (Robyn, The Naked and Famous, Betty Who, CHVRCHES). I finally understand Adele's "25" in its entirety and I have so much love for Gwen Stefani it pains me. My favorite indie-brag of all time is called The Seedy Seeds, a funky little folk band I highly recommend checking out. Other gems: The Head and the Heart, The Civil Wars, The Submarines, Phantogram, Fleetwood Mac, Ingrid Michaelson, Radical Face, Cloud Cult

I love cooking! When it's for myself I keep things pretty healthy and simple... lots of steamed or sautéed veggies, oatmeal every morning, and I eat more beets than anybody. I try to keep my fruits & veg raw, my proteins lean, and my carbs low, but I'm totally not above eating half a pan of lasagna or a second plate of BBQ and potato salad 😆 Spicy food is ALWAYS welcome. No saurkraut or sweet pickles. Comfort foods include steak, burgers, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, green bean casserole, though nowadays I limit my meat intake as much as possible, since I buy in to everything I ever hear in a TED Talk. (If we chat/date/interact, there is a 110% chance I'll reference a TED sooner or later.)
The six things I could never do without
Travel.
Coffee.
Dogs.
Creative expression.
Microbrew.
Hope/optimism/positivity.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"Am I basic?"
"Humans are strange."
"I should exercise more."
"I want hot wings."
On a typical Friday night I am
You'd almost definitely find me gussied up, smiling and laughing with friends at a brewery, restaurant, or show... or potluck dining at mine or someone's house before heading out to a divey bar to sit on the patio and shoot the breeze.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm 100% on the coconut oil bandwagon.
You should message me if
anything I've written resonated for you in any sort of way. I'm a laid back fella and I'm never one to turn down some friendly chit chat with a handsome guy! 👐
