My self-summary
I am a Portland native taking a circuitous route through undergrad, first taking me back East and then bringing me out here once more with a gap in between. I am a tad bit geeky, more than slightly adventurous, and a contrarian to the core. I enjoy reading, biking, kayaking, hiking, watching silly television shows, volunteering, and arguing just about any subject.
What I’m doing with my life
I am nearing the end of my Economics degree while still fitting in the occasional Philosophy course. Someone needs to argue for solipsism, so it might as well be me. In the mean time, I am planning for the day I begin hiking the Triple Crown, fencing sabre and rowing, memorizing musicals, taking far too many photos of my cat, and constantly looking for the next hobby to catch my interest.
I’m really good at
I cook. Be it Moroccan, American, French, or Spanish, I have it covered. Breakfast? Done. Lunch? No problem. Supper? Please. I am down to try cooking or baking anything at least once, and will often return to it if it turns out awesome. When it comes to Italian food however, I excel. I will whip you up a ragú sauce atop orchiette done 'til al dente perfection with fresh Oregon berry cannoli following soon after.

I am also amazing at making cats and dogs love me. I have the magic petting hands.
The first things people usually notice about me
I would guess it is my walk. I only have two settings: swift and intense or lethargic and bumbling.

The first thing I will notice about you will be your hair, I guarantee it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I am the kind of person who reads the last chapter of a book first. I am a monster, I know. My favorite book read for pure enjoyment was The Name of the Wind, but the book my thoughts return to again and again is Kafka's The Trial.

I will watch just about anything with company, but when alone I watch animated Disney movies and everything bearing Hayao Miyazaki's name. And 12 Angry Men, because I watch it again and again and it never grows old. It is my favorite movie in spades.

I love/loved Breaking Bad, Friends, Elementary, The Blacklist, Firefly, and Pushing Daisies, but television is more of a background thing for me. But I have yet to watch GoT. Interested in binging it with me?

I enjoy music ranging from rock to electronica to indie. But I am really into musicals and French music at the moment. I have all of Hamilton memorized and am listening to a lot of Shy'm and Sexion d'Assaut.

If it is not yet apparent, allow me to be explicit: I pretty much live off of Italian food.
Six things I could never do without
Rain and clouds.
A well supplied kitchen and overflowing pantry.
One of these.
Coniferous trees.
My cat, Goose.
Spicy capocollo and La Panzanella crackers.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about that one word I know but cannot quite remember right this second. Shoot! It is on the tip of my tongue. Okay, okay! "Thrombosis"? No. "Tarris?" Not even close. Come on! It starts with a "T" and ends with an "-is". Fuck, this is going to bug me all day. No, don't help me. I've got this!

And cooking. A small percentage of my mind is always looking for news ideas and novel ingredients to make into tonight's supper.

Q: How do you know someone is from Portland?
A: Don't worry, it will be the first thing they tell you (case in point).
On a typical Friday night I am
On a typical Friday night, I am reading, watching a movie, and just generally being a homebody or out at Friday Night Magic.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I am alone, I sometimes narrate the inner thoughts of the inanimate objects around me.
