My self-summary
*Update. After many years of splitting my time between NY and Philly I am no longer regularly working in NYC (I am full time Philly). I am a frequent visitor but wanted people to be aware of that if they dont want to have an exchange based on that fact.*

I am a pretty simple guy looking for someone who enjoys the simple things in life as well. I am a social scientist and that is a real passion in my life. I lay my head in Philadelphia but have worked in NYC several days of the week for a number of years. I care about my community and the world beyond my front door. For hobbies I guess you could say I play music, dig in my garden, and mess with my old house. I like to hang with friends and to cook. I am more likely to go to the art gallery on an off hour rather than the opening so that I can actually see the work and take it in. I am fit and try to take care of myself physically. I am still learning and am excited by people who can share new music, movies, books and perspectives on the world with me. Why else should you get to know me? Well, I know how to use a hammer and saw, I will cook for you with food from my garden, and I am a pretty decent and interesting guy. I guess i am looking for someone who is creative, confident and cares about the world around them, the rest is pretty negotiable...
What I’m doing with my life
A little bit of this a little bit of that. I am involved in all sorts of different things at any given moment, and live a pretty full life without it being hectic.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have had people say, Voice, and Hands more times than once...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music - this is a huge question, I could listen to Ghostface, Coltrane, Bad Brains, Burning Spear and Bill Monroe all in one day....
Movies - I like a good comedy but some of my favorite directors are Kubrick, Scorcese, Lee, Anderson, Cohen bros....
Food - I like home cookinand comfort food
Books - The last 2 books I read were, Ancillary Justice and the Greatest Music Never Sold. The books im reading right now are Dub (about Reggae) and the Warmth of Other Suns.
Shows - as in TV? I watch tv (i know some folks dont) I can watch any documentary, and I like all the discovery shows like Deadliest Catch, or Swamp People.
Six things I could never do without
My family and friends
My Books
My ideas and
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How everything and anything works.
On a typical Friday night I am
Cooking up a nice dinner from my garden with my friends. Maybe watching a movie later. Or I may be at a minor league ball game, or maybe spending time with some kids I work with.
You should message me if
you are someone who is passionate and creative in their interests is really what it comes down to. Someone who wants to check out some bands, and cook some good food. Someone who can kick it in jeans and one of my old band Ts but also cleans up well and can make me drool with a nice low cut dress. I am an eclectic person so I appreciate eclectic but grounded people. People with broad interests are most interesting to me and are able to be eclectic without being pretentious and insecure is always nice. Someone who is real and reflective. Someone who appreciates others cultures while not needing to consume them.
Somebody who realizes the whole world does not revolve around them and cares enough about the world to try and be a positive contributor to it. Somebody who is not looking for a "fabulous" existence, but rather just wants to kick it, and check out some interesting things, interesting places and interesting people. Maybe someone a little Hip-Hop, a little RocknRoll, a little Chelsea Girl, a little bookworm. I could go on about what I like (curves are good) but I also like to be surprised and am open for whatever and whoever.
