My self-summary
My name is Allison but I also go by Alli pretty frequently. I don't know what you want to know about me, so here are the basics:

-Apathy pisses me off.
-I laugh a lot.
-I'm a D&D nerd and a sci fi geek.
-If you know of Titansgrave and/or Critical Role, that's basically my idea of a good time.
-I like to write. I'm currently working on a novel! - I've entered a contest to try to get this book published! The top 3 entries with the most pre orders will be printed and distributed to bookstores! You can check out my entry with sample chapters here: Pre orders are much appreciated!
-I'm super liberal and definitely want to find someone similarly minded
-I consider myself a feminist and if that bugs you, we're gonna have problems
-I've lost roughly 75lbs in the last year and am still working to get another 50 or so off. Because of this healthier lifestyle I am trying to lead, I have found I love participating in charity stair climbs!
What I’m doing with my life
I work for an appraisal management company as an appraiser liaison. It sounds super fancy, but it's still a desk job- like any other. I love it, though. I'm incredibly lucky to work in the environment that I do.

I'm living in the Irvington area with my roommate. I work downtown, so I'm there a fair amount of time, too.
I’m really good at
Making fun of you but in a way that you'll probably find endearing. Or if not, that means we can't hang.

I'm also good at knowing the lyrics to entire songs without knowing the title or the artist.

Oh, and being blunt as hell. I'm really not interested in being fake or trying to be someone I'm not.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty tall at 5'10" so there's that. I also am into doing my own nail art these days, so that's been getting some attention.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I have read a good deal with medieval/fantasy in my time (If you know about the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind then you are my hero). Current favorite would be Patrick Rothfuss' Name of the Wind. From my childhood, I have a great appreciation for the His Dark Materials trilogy - The Subtle Knife was my favorite.

Oh, and the Beatnik poets piss me off. Their actual poetry and prose isn't bad or anything, but the concept behind their movement is absolutely ridiculous and more than a little offensive. I don't think less of people who are fans of theirs, but after spending a semester studying their lives and works, I just... can't even pretend to think that they're anything but privileged brats who thought they could play the poverty game for kicks.

Podcasts: My Brother, My Brother and Me! The Adventure Zone! Guys We F****d! The Guilty Feminist! Not Too Deep! So, so many. I'm always seeking new podcasts to sink into.

Movies: Musicals appease the vocalist in me. I will never get enough of Funny Girl, Hairspray and The Producers. Beyond musicals, I enjoy Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, Thank You for Smoking, Boondock Saints, Dumb and Dumber, Kung Pow, and others that I will probably never add at a later date. Because let's be honest- most people love a lot of fucking movies.

TV (even though they didn't list it): Stargate SG-1, Farscape, Sanctuary, Doctor Who, Warehouse 13 - remember when I said something about being a sci fi nut..?

Music: Sarah McLachlan wrote my life before I lived it, I'm convinced. Other artists that I enjoy include Eisley, Say Anything, Manchester Orchestra, The Decemberists, Tallhart... again, there is not enough time in the world to list them all. I will listen to anything, but will not promise to like it.

Food: I have always had strange texture issues when it comes to food, but I am a huge fan of most Italian food. I grew up on it, so it's not too surprising.
The six things I could never do without
I hate this section. You don't care about it either. Let's just move on.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Typography and printing technology. I minored in graphic arts technology and digital publishing in college and have since then found myself fascinated and easily distracted by thoughts and conversations about layouts, typography, print styles, etc.

Also, I'm a planner, so I tend to be thinking about some future social event I'm planning or some far off trip I want to save for. I visited England last year and would love to go to Australia in the near future.
On a typical Friday night I am
Rolling some mother fucking dice with my d&d group. I run the games usually. And I own metal dice. Fear me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
It's not private really but hey, here's as good a place as any to drop this knowledge - I don't own a car. Driving makes me nervous as hell. I don't let it get in the way of my life but I just figure being upfront is best when it comes to these things.
You should message me if
Message me if you see something that makes you want to learn more. There is only so much I can convey about myself through these little essays. I love meeting new people and making new friends.
