My self-summary
"...When I'm good, I'm very good. But when I'm bad ...I'm even better."

Outspoken, unconventional and more than a little irreverent! Negotiated million dollar deals, but found time to teach arts and crafts to disabled children. Flown aircraft from biplanes to jets, but also flew kites and model rockets with my boys. NOT like most of the guys you're gonna' meet, I'm the type of man Thoreau spoke of that "hears a different drummer", and to paraphrase Frost, I took the path less traveled. As comfortable in a suit at a concert as I am in the buff while "skinny dipping". Intelligent, articulate, witty, affectionate (even in public), energetic and maybe a little intense at times. As a Secular Humanist and an intellectual, I am a sensitive and caring man who is not afraid of feelings and emotions while still being strong and masculine. I'm now a semiretired consultant as well as a working artist in multiple medias. I tend to break out in song when the mood strikes so if you want to be serenaded, I'm your man. And I'm not talking about you having to suffer through the off pitch wail of a wounded love sick animal, I've performed live as an amateur Jazz vocalist at The Orbit, Johnny's Uptown, Bullwinkle's and The Gas Lamp Inn. Yes, they're all gone the way of the Dodo now, but I shouldn't take the credit or the blame for that, should I? ;-)

I enjoy flying, sailing, hiking, camping, motorcycling. music, reading, conversation, singing, art, cooking, touching, loving and being in love. I have a good sense of humor and like to joke around and have fun but can be serious when it counts! I appreciate honesty and open communication about feelings and don't play games (well, maybe some SERIOUS flirting). I want to be your best friend as well as your lover!

I'm too young to act my age and especially to be trapped in my dad's body, so lets' hurry up and have some fun! I love going up in my antique aircraft ..."come fly with me, come fly, let's fly away". If you'd rather cruise at a lower altitude, let’s stay below the clouds, put the top down on the convertible or jump on the motorcycle and hit the road. Too fast and free? Would you rather go to a jazz club and dirty dance the night away? Too energetic? Then we'll just share a quiet evening together with a good movie and a bottle of wine while feeding each other peeled grapes!

I’m looking for a special partner to share life's experiences! I'm a "non-hopeless" romantic and will give lots of attention, but expect the same in return! I think intimacy is more complete when it transcends the physical and has an intellectual component (not that I'm discounting the "physical"). I know the value of flowers without a special occasion and simple expressions of affection. I enjoy cuddling or holding hands walking down the street. I'm ready for fun times, serious times, quite times, good conversation, sharing, arguing (and making up) and sunsets, (sunrises can be VERY nice too). Maybe we'll share a future full of the simple pleasures, like falling asleep in each others arms at night.

On the other hand, if two ships that pass in the night both end up in Jamaica, WHAT A PARTY!!!

"I am's what's I am's and that's all what I am's"

Except when I'm more... or less! (I'm SO complicated) ;-)

• Spontaneous daring adventurer on land, sea and in air ...reflective but outspoken intellectual and philosopher
• Seductive, confident, handsome, sexy Don Juan ...timid sufferer of lost love's sting
• Mature, masculine, audacious, raw sensuality ...vulnerable, innocent, "boy next door" naivete
• Mischievous wit and charm combined a worldly sophistication ...frequently frolics in foolish farcical fancies (corny jokes too!)
• Singer, painter, sculptor, photographer, poet ...engineer, scientist, technician, teacher, builder

(come here to me, let me peel your grape while I serenade you)

PS: If my profile gives you the impression that I'm an incredibly busy fellow and that you "couldn't keep up with me" ;-) or think I may not even have the "time" for a relationship, I say "au contraire". I've been shuffling around this mortal coil for a long time so it's hard NOT to have accomplished a "few" things in my life, even if I took it easy (which I DEFINITELY do most of the time). Or maybe I'm just "efficient" LOL

However, I DID buy another airplane (1958 Piper PA-24-180 Comanche) so I'm a busy playing with my toy. But, of course, I can't ignore the rest of the family, my other antique aircraft and a few motorcycles in various states of (dis)repair.
What I’m doing with my life
I've accomplished a lot in my life so now I've changed directions so as to let my artistic or creative side grow. I'm painting, creating sculpture in wood, metal, and mixed medias as well as working in visual and performing arts, singing live Jazz (whenever I can). I have had a one man gallery show of photography in Downtown Phoenix. Bought another airplane (that makes 4!)
I’m really good at
so many things that my biggest failing is my excessive modesty LOL
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Dead Air
Author: Iain Banks (well, ANYTHING from Banks!)

Collected Short Stories of Mark Twain
Author: Sam Clemens

Remarkable Creatures: Epic Adventures in the Search for the Origins of Species (I have an autographed copy)
Author: Dr. Sean B. Carroll

'The God Delusion', 'The Blind watchmaker' (ditto on autograph and "anything by"))
Author: Richard Dawkins

Movies: I like lots of movies and appreciate good stories and actors. No horror or extremely violent slasher type movies (the real world is bad enough without having your nose rubbed in violence and harm just for titillating entertainment)

anything by Woody Allen
"The Man From Earth"
"Arrival"
"Genius"
"9"
"Paul"
LOTR & The Hobbit
"Monty Python's The Life Of Brian"
"Forbidden Planet"
"Captain Blood" and "Sea Hawks" with Errol Flynn (again, anything with Errol Flynn, who was more that a mere "movie star swashbuckler", but also an unrecognized talent as a serious and versatile actor. I can prove it, I have all his movies, watch them with me and be amazed)

OK! I'll admit it, STAR WARS 2 too (and 1 and 3 and ...etc., etc. LOL).

OK, OK! you've twisted my arm, STAR TREK TOS with Bill Shatner (I have a pix of us together at his celebrity horse show), Leonard Nimoy and DeForrest Kelly and James Doohan, may the later three rest in peace (and the various spin offs and movies ...except Voyager).

TV Shows: TV? The BOOB TUBE? You gotta' be JOKING! Well, I have to admit I did get into HBO's new West World. AND The Expanse is the best hard SF TV series ever! Childhood's End.

Music: I'm open minded but listen mostly to Classical and Jazz (and no country).
Six things I could never do without
I've got a good sense of humor and really like good jokes or puns, and a lot of people try to be glib and put something like "oxygen" here, which is rather witty, but without love, why would we all need oxygen, or even want to breath?

SO, here they are...
love, well of course,
passion (intellectual, emotional and physical)
music,
intelligent conversation,
flying,
reading,
singing,
technology,
art (mine and others)
education,
rational thought

OOPS! More than SIX? Well, I guess I'm greedy for life!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
... the meaning of life, although I think Monty Python did a good job attempting to answer that question in his movie of the same name (but I REALLY DIDN'T LIKE the restaurant gluttony scene). Remember that Socrates did say, "An unexamined life is not worth living". But ya' also gotta' learn to not take it all too seriously and have fun while you're doing the examining!

"Always look at the bright side of life ta dum ta dum de dum de dum." Now you just start to whistle, it's contagious, joy. “You know how to whistle, don't you...? You just put your lips together, and blow.” (Bacall to Bogart, "To Have and Have Not’s")
On a typical Friday night I am

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I really get tired of being alone in this big house now that the family is gone ....especially sleeping alone!
You should message me if
You are a sapiophile who has high standards but also wants to have fun with a creative and intelligent man who is also sensitive, loving and cares about people, especially you(?)
Even though I'm a "card carrying" atheist, I still sing Christmas carols with the Rubber band every season! I really don't think we'll get along if you're an extremely religious person to whom faith and dogma is important (I'm open minded and once was madly in love with a fundamentalist christian ...been there, done that, never again)
