My self-summary
Born and raised in San Francisco, culture-shocked in a Pennsylvania college, government agent-ed in Washington DC, and ski-obsessed anywhere there's snow.
What I’m doing with my life
UCLA grad, rocket sciencing

I love adventure. I make it my mission to travel some place new every year. Last year I went to Taiwan and Vietnam; the year before, I went backpacking in Costa Rica. Just returned from a National Parks road trip with lots of hiking and auto touring.

Recently SCUBA certified, dive and snorkel buddies wanted!

What's your best adventure story?
I’m really good at
...academics. Ten years of college, phew!

...driving. Drove myself across-country in 3 days.

...pedaling my bike 100+ miles. Cycling from SF and LA sounds fun to do some day.

...hiking 14+ hour at a time. Half Dome twice and reached the most dangerous part of the US. Guess where this is!

...volunteering. I spent a college Spring Break in New Orleans for post-Katrina relief and many as a camp counselor.

...challenging myself and others. Physically and mentally. I am a board game fanatic (especially Scrabble) who doesn't back down from pull-up challenges.
The first things people usually notice about me
My propensity for a healthy and active lifestyle...I am at the gym a few times a week and cook nutritious meals whenever I get the chance.

My broad shoulders...I swam often growing up

That I love to explore and travel...Thoreau had it right in saying it is vain to sit down and write when one hasn't stood up to live. I love new experiences, from going out and seeing new sights or watching movies or documentaries on the couch. Anthony Bourdain's new show is addicting.

If I were a dog, I'd be a huskie. Being active outside is important to me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books...love reading about the struggles and strength of the human spirit. Lord of the Flies, The Odyssey, Diary of Anne Frank, Kite Runner, Black Like Me

Movies...anything really, love sci-fi, thrillers, but also movies having themes of overcoming adversity. Minority Report, Jurassic Park, A Beautiful Mind, The Departed

Shows...it's a hodgepodge: Castle, The Office, Modern Family, Revenge, Lost, Seinfeld, Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown

Food...fresh and healthy is the winning combination! Dines-about-town a couple times a week, but home-cooked meals more often than not.
Six things I could never do without
An active lifestyle. Scientifically trained for bike racing, skied and snowboarded in 5 different states/countries, striving to become FBI secret agent fit.

A travel bug that has taken me to the bottom of a well in China (this is a fun story you should ask me about), to the best croissants and poutine in Montreal, to my knees in an underground Vietnamese war tunnel, and to the warm sips of Christmas gluwein in Berlin.

Watching or playing sports of all kinds. I've been on several teams...fencing, basketball, cycling, and dragonboat. Recently into rock climbing, indoors and out...always looking for climbing partners ;)

I spend a lot of time thinking about
My career, my next meal, how to give back to my family, friends and society; who I'll spend the rest of my life with.
On a typical Friday night I am
Generally, I am having dinner/drinks with friends and thinking about how to spend the weekend...any suggestions for new restaurants/events in town?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
You should message me if
you are interested in an adventurous companion, like good conversation over food and drinks, or you have a kick-ass adventure/travel story to tell.
