I found someone in October, and am loving being in a relationship with her!
First, to set the mood while you browse my profile, check this link to hear my latest musical musings:
Now onto the goodies...
I feel fulfilled in the creative process. I am a musician, sculptor, and artist, but also a "scientist" at heart. I'm fairly open-minded, but not easily-swayed.
I love spending time with my family and friends, ...experiencing live music, eating fine-foods, traveling, story-telling, philosophy, playing games, watching movies, watersports, travelling, & making / studying sculptures.
Now for some more adjectives: I am well-rounded: honest, intelligent, adventurous, loyal (possibly to a fault), empathetic, discerning, respectful, a good communicator, affectionate, romantic, family-oriented, practical, inventive, well-read, goal-oriented & problem-solving, a lover of water, of travel, of music, & of a good laugh!
Career: Up 'til September 2012, I was a goldsmith for a company that manufactures custom-made jewellery. Now, I'm back @ the University of Saskatchewan for to finish a bachelor's degree & possibly a master's.
Yikes. Most of my reading is currently done online, or in university textbooks. However, I love to read novels aloud when someone likes to listen. (*wink! wink!*) The stories I most like to read ...are about hope, triumph over tribulation, and are infused with humour and visual flavour. Thus, J.R.R. Tolkien's epic saga, The Silmarillion, is probably my favourite novel.
(Time to change that dial again:
I couldn't live without music --Really. I've been a musician all my life, and have recorded with local musicians on over ten studio albums since 2005. I've got eclectic tastes: funk, R & B, jazz, hard rock, folk, classical, or a fusion of any of those. I am a drummer / percussionist, so the rhythm of a song usually connects with me just as much as harmony & arrangements.
A few bands / artists that stand out to me (but you may never have heard of) are: Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Goat Rodeo (wow!), Alex Cuba, Fishbone, Chic Gamine, Dan Mangan, Hey Rosetta!, Wide Mouth Mason, Flight of the Concords, Jake Thackery, Radney Foster, Mr. Something Something, King's X, The Duhks, Jesse Cook, Elizabeth Shepherd Trio, Coco Love Alcorn, ...oh, and U2, Adele, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Tom Waits, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, and Amy Winehouse. ;)
I can cook, but I'm always learning more. I have some awesome cooks in my family, and I have done quite a bit of traveling & experiencing different cultures, so I'm adventurous: I'll try almost any food at least once.
I like films that make me laugh, cry, & long for love; give me hope, urge me to fight injustice or take on a new perspective, and somehow leave me feeling "changed" while the credits roll. Favourites include: ...Solaris, Aliens, Schindler's List, Couching Tiger Hidden Dragon,The Shawshank Redemption, Saving Private Ryan, Blackhawk Down, Braveheart, Fight Club, The Manchurian Candidate, Bridesmaids, Dumb 'n Dumber, Elf, Tommy Boy, 50 First Dates, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars (the originals), Run Lola Run, the new James Bond films, The Dark Knight, etc., etc., etc..
I don't have much time to watch right now, but when I do, I'll get caught up on seasons of Justified, Fringe, Dexter, Community, The Walking Dead, & Game of Thrones. I like smart, funny, dramatic, intense and sci-fi shows. (Reality TV isn't my thing.) More of my favourites are / were 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Modern Family, Seinfeld, 24, Alias, Firefly, Lost, Criminal Minds, Battlestar Galactica, The Simpsons, The Three Stooges (especially the ones with Curly), and The Flintstones.
I have travelled by car throughout most of Canada & much of the U.S.A. I've been to Israel, Mexico, Hawaii, Thailand, Burma, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Philippines, Jamaica, France, & Switzerland. I love travel - especially warm vacations.
2. Music. I find it fascinating - as a language, as a teaching tool, as a way to release stress or tap into emotions. I am a musician, and have a very keen ear. Though I'm not very well versed in music theory, I can find something to admire about all music styles.
3. Philosophy: I have re-started my cosmological & theological research (non-academic). It's a "massive" topic: having to do with the origins of the universe and the meaning of life itself.
I spent time volunteering with churches and as a missionary after high school, and it was most-rewarding. Since then, life has shown me that sometimes asking the difficult questions may not always get you the answers you expect.
My family culture & moral values are based mostly on traditional Judeo-Christian values, though I would currently call myself an agnostic in search of more concrete Truth. (That's a story in itself. Ask me about it!)
2. You have answered at least 100 of the "The Two Of Us" questions, and you think we would get along fabulously.
3. You have pictures to share.
4. You are not looking for a hook-up.
