My self-summary
I'm intelligent, witty with a dry sense of humour and a geek.
I like adventure, travelling to new places and seeing and doing new things.
If we have some common interests then I can probably talk your ear off, but I've never been good at small talk.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an engineer at a well known software company here; I also work on some personal projects in my free time when I'm not going out.

At the moment, I have a few goals I like to work towards
- I want to learn to fly
- I want to visit each continent at least once and ideally each country within a few regions. New Zealand is planned for this winter
- I want to learn a new language, though I've never been particularly good at this
- At some point in my life I want to have something to do with space development and/or exploration

I try to keep in shape when I can, I walk most everywhere. I particularly like hiking, especially in mountainous terrain
I’m really good at
- According to my friends, I can sing, though I still need a beer or two before I'll do karaoke. Rock band though...
- I know tons of useless trivia on all sorts of random subjects, particularly anything science related
- Listening & thinking
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm always laughing
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books:
Lord of the Rings, Dune, Ringworld, Uplift series, Wheel of Time, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (and a lot more, these are the just ones that instantly came to mind). Recommend me some good ones!

Movies:
The Godfather, The Usual Suspects, Lethal Weapon, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Quest for the Holy Grail & Life of Brian, Spaceballs, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz

TV shows:
Mad Men, Blackadder, Flying Circus, Whose Line is it?, Family Guy, Futurama, HIMYM, Babylon 5, The Daily Show, Parks & Recreation, Rome, The Office, Burn Notice, Top Gear, Arrested Development, QI, etc

Music:
Classic rock mostly, so the Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, The Who, Queen, Chris deBurgh and others. Nightwish is a favourite. Some more recent music is pretty ok too, though it really depends on the song. I dislike rap and country in general, but there are some songs I do like.

Food:
Not a big fan of seafood (except lobster!). I love spicy foods, Indian in particular; Thai is also quite good. Interested in trying different cusines.
Six things I could never do without
In no particular order:
British Humor: sarcasm, irony, puns, pathos and satire
Books
Quality TV & Movies
Friends & Family
Games, of all kinds. Board, card, computer, take your pick
The internet; without it I wouldn't be able to do what I do
I spend a lot of time thinking about
That usually depends on what I'm doing; or I think about what I'm doing
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I didn't meet my first girlfriend until I was 20
You should message me if
You like the geeky, intelligent type and you like what you read
