My self-summary
Just another bureaucrat new to the city. Originally from Philadelphia, and attempting to acclimate to my new environment. Graduated from Temple University in July of 2016 (Econ/Math), and moved down here in January. I've only spent one weekend in the city thus far, but am looking to change that. :)

My interests are mostly in various geeky activities outlined below. I'm always up to trying new things though! I want to get back into watching movies more often again, wish blockbuster was a thing still. Miss meandering around the aisles.

This section gets changed every time I think about it. Much better at simply having a conversation than writing about myself with no prompt to work off of. Need to start from somewhere though, so I've put a fair bit of stuff below.

Note: I don't drive, so looking for people near some variety of train preferably :)
What I’m doing with my life
Currently working for the department of labor as an economist. Essentially I analyze data on prices in order to publish reports on a monthly basis. I actually like this a lot, even though I'm sure that sounds like the worst job ever to most people. Very close to my ideal career that I wanted in college. So quite happy with that.

While I'm not at work, I haven't figured out much to do in the DC area yet. If you can help out with that, would be much appreciated. Have found some people to play games with luckily, and have a great internet connection so can always spend time online.

Would also like to find good places to get dinner/lunch at. I either have terrible luck wandering into places, or this cities food scene isn't very good at the affordable level.
I’m really good at
Navigating public transit.
Noticing out of place things.
Minimizing the work I do while volunteering for tabletop gaming conventions.
Forgetting names of things (specifically proper nouns)
Having way to many notepads on my desktop.
Making Lists.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - A Brief History of Time, Harry Potter, To Kill a Mockingbird, General Science and History non-fiction, The Wheel of Time series. I don't actually read all that much, prefer to spend my time doing other things and I need to read a lot in school so prefer not to do it to often in my free time.

Movies - A Scanner Darkly, In Bruges, Good Will Hunting, Lord of the Rings, Matchstick Men, Pulp Fiction, Saving Private Ryan, Star Wars, and a million more.

Shows - Game of Thrones, Gotham, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Silicone Valley, Billions, Shameless, and True Detective. (Just listed the currently out stuff. Many many more that have ended.) NFL Football I guess should also go here.

Music - Metal (most subgenres). Blues. House. Industrial. Hardstyle. Jazz. Hard Rock. Trance. Little bit of Indy Pop, and miniscule amount of rap.

Food - Indian and Middle eastern are my favorites. Though I enjoy a wide variety of stuff. I'm a bit set in my ways when I go out to eat, I go to many places but almost always order the same thing at any given place after I find what I like the most there.
Six things I could never do without
Barring necessities of course:
1. Cold Room
2. Comfy Bed
3. Computer
4. Good Food
5. Games
6. Other people
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I want to go to graduate school for. Fantasizing about living in other cities. Various current preoccupations. What the hell to do on nights and weekends without getting on a bus and making my way to NYC or Philly. Concepts for D&D characters/Magic Decks. What to buy next on my giant list of things. If I should start playing video games again. Should I get into painting 40k minis. Other terribly nerdy hobbies.
On a typical Friday night I am
Preferably out playing board games with my friends. Short of that, probably in my house enjoying the fact I don't need to wake up at any specified time the next day and watching a movie or something else fun!
You should message me if
You'd like to meetup for coffee, dinner or a drink after talking on here for a bit. Interested in people that are actually interested in meeting up after some number of messages. Can only learn so much off of here.

Strong preferences for people that fall into any of the following categories (preferably more than 1!):
Gamer (Board/Tabletop/Video Whatever)
