My self-summary
People often get butterflies in my presence. If that comes across as arrogant, perhaps you take me a bit too figuratively.

I get along best with kids who call me up asking what I'm doing right now and who aren't often falling asleep before 2am. Planning and waking up before noon are challenges I struggle with only when necessary.

My favorite activities involve friends and some combination of music, stories, sweat, or body contact.

I type dvorak. I compose programs, mostly using javascript, Haskell and R these days. Hopefully I'll find room for a LISP sometime.. I love open source software and anything in the Creative Commons. I am a transhumanist
and would eventually like to help bring about my future technotopia.

I've been dating NeonTigerOnTop for multiple years now, longer than I've dated anyone previously. She's also the closest person to me in my life these days. If you're checking me out, I also recommend checking her out.

I live in Cole Valley with an excessively friendly cat named Nova.
What I’m doing with my life
Recommending a free song every day to whoever cares. Going to shows. Having strangers crash in my space. Reading books. Drinking delicious beers.
I’m really good at
Analyzing an argument. Being cute. Talking in statistics. Thinking in abstractions. Hedging and qualifying.
The first things people usually notice about me
If you meet me, you may notice some potent combination of advanced height, gangly limbs, or curly brown hair with hands frequently moving through it.

You're also likely to note that I'm not looking at you when I'm talking or listening to you. It takes conscious effort for me to make eye contact.

I've watched these talks more than most of my favorite movies:
Escape From the Ivory Tower: The Haskell Journey, From 1990 to 2011 by Simon Peyton Jones.
Are we in control of our decisions? by Dan Ariely.

Lately I've become obsessed with somegreybloke. I especially like when he talks about Jesus or neighborhood children.

Music
Genres: mostly indie rock/pop, a good amount of jazz, abstract contemporary chamber music stuff, some electronic/ambient/house, some hip hop, a little classical, a little metal. For more specifics consult last.fm or my daily download recommendations.

Most of the live music I experience seems to be classical, jazz, or experimental.

Here are some free songs that sometimes cause my brain to leak:
* The Motorist by Arms and Sleepers.
* Spanish Gold, 2044 and A Hand At Dusk by Swan Lake
* Lemonade by CocoRosie
* Cloud of Evil by Blackout Beach
* Artsy by edIT and The Grouch
* Straw Man, Anomaly, and Let's Get Bloody by State Shirt. That last tune is entirely performed live by one person.
* Winged/Wicked Things by Sunset Rubdown.
* Move by Sol Seppy
* P.O.S. Is Ruining My Life by P.O.S.
* Hero and Nothing To Me by Jeris.

Streaming stuff worth listening to:
Still Life by Opeth is one of my favorite albums to make out to.
Híbakúsja by Ben Frost is one of most intense aural experiences I've found.
Ornithopters by The Whiskers is the sort of song I'd like to sing karaoke.

Food
Eating is a consistent hassle I would be happy to do away with.
The six things I could never do without
my math-engine slave who makes this possible, or one to take his place
abstraction, patterns, theories, and meta-thinking
that beat that I already got all up in my ear
words strung together in a thoughtful or amusing manner
allies in the common cause of companionship

I miss my Guenhwyvar, but I am living without him.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything is hilarious. naming tells me this, and I believe that he is wise in this manner.

The future. This can mean: figuring out how I'm going to accomplish all the shit I gotta do, wondering how I should amuse myself tonight, speculating about those around me, or pondering where technological advancement, social trends, and our own spending/eating/breeding habits might lead us.
On a typical Friday night I am
lately, enjoying mostly pleasant solitude. Or working up a sweat, moving in time.

Many many Saturdays ago I helped mereconsequence orchestrate a Robot Apocalypse Journey to the End of the Night. I played an evil professor scientist who got murdered on stage by a revenge-seeking daughter who snuck on to our escaping airship as an android. It was obscenely fun.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
People occasionally mistakenly think I wear makeup. I find makeup unattractive on myself and on others, so I don't wear any unless I'm in costume (and rarely then).
You should message me if
You are interested in playing Sorcerer or Universalis.

You'd like to point me at an awesome concert. Even better if it's a regular series. Extra bonus if you take me to shows by ensembles who perform Xenakis, Reich, &ct, or performers who sound like Sten Sandell or Frank Rosaly. No genres excluded.

Bisexual, Switch, 25-45, and non-monogamous is optimal.

You don't need certainty. I may be allergic to it. I suspect a large part of the skill of living is managing uncertainty.

I want to meet folks in person. I'm much more likely to respond if you are in reach of BART, or at least willing to meet me places that are in reach of BART.

You are looking for Everybody.

You'd like to hang out with me and neontigerontop together. We don't typically come together, but we like it when it happens.
