My self-summary
Hey there! My name's Louis!

I am a full time software developer and I get to work remotely which I must say is pretty fantastic! I enjoy being able to work from home.

Currently I am living with a few friends in the Chicago suburbs. I plan on moving to the city next year after my current lease is up.

I love playing music; currently I only play with friends for random cover band get-togethers every once and a while. Occasionally a friend's solo act needs a backup guitarist/bassist spot that I will gladly fill! I also have my own music project that I write and record for whenever I have time, although this has been put on hold for a while as I focus on my job. So who the hell knows when that'll come back...

I enjoy playing video games! As you might have figured, seeing as I'm a programmer I also happen to be a major geek. I grew up playing lots of Nintendo games, particularly Zelda. I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy and RPG games in general. Lately I've been playing Dark Souls quite a bit... I also enjoy watching anime and various TV shows on Netflix and Hulu. Favorite shows and whatnot are listed below!

I don't care much for watching sports, but if you're a sports fan, I'm cool with that. Just don't expect me to care if the team you love loses =D. I do love playing tennis, though! I still suck at it, but I am trying to learn how to play properly. I took some beginner lessons a while back... haha

I really want to spend time traveling the world when I have enough money to, but it's okay if I don't any time soon. I tend to try to visit a new country at least once a year for my vacation time.

While I do love going out sometimes, I generally find myself most comfortable at home with few to no people, just hanging out watching YouTube, Netflix, etc or playing games.
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a major in Computer Science.
I moved to Detroit for two years for a full time software development job, and now currently work the same job from home back in the Chicago suburbs.

I enjoy programming a lot! I particularly like video game programming and I currently am working on a game with a couple friends part time.

I write and record my own music, although it's been hard keeping up working full time and all. At least currently I am playing with a cover band, which is a great way for me to keep up with playing music right now.

I have been practicing Kung Fu since 2013 which is a much more fun and rewarding way to get in shape than lifting weights...*yawn*. Though I also enjoy running and playing tennis as often as I can.
I’m really good at
I like to think I'm pretty good at guitar... Also, I'm constantly working on getting better at programming, of course!
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably that I am very shy around people I don't know... but once I'm opened up I'm great to be around... promise! =p
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Unfortunately I do not read books enough =/

But those that I have read that I can think of at the top of my head that I love are The Hobbit, Glass Castle, Life of Pi, Concrete Island, and The Secret Adversary.

When I do read I usually like to read world history texts, which sounds boring I know, but I find it fascinating. It only fuels my desire to travel even more :D

I tend to read up a lot on politics which lately I've been rather passionate about. I find myself mostly a progressive (yuge Bernie supporter, who will reluctantly vote Hillary this cycle) but I am down to debate issues with anyone who wants to!

My favorite movies are usually ones starring certain actors I love:
Johnny Depp, Paul Giamatti, Gene Wilder, etc. I like a lot of different types of movies, but I tend to gravitate towards series films like those of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Lord of the Rings/Hobbit, Hunger Games, and the like.
It should also go without saying that I also love Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki films!

My favorite shows: Parks and Recreation, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Firefly, Angel, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, One Piece, Scrubs, 3rd Rock from the Sun, How I Met Your Mother, Agents of SHIELD, The Flash, Arrow, Agent Carter, Various Nickelodeon 90's shows, Soul Eater, Trigun, Dragon Ball Z, Samurai Champloo, Gurren Lagann, etc

My favorite music: American Football, Minus the Bear, Sufjan Stevens, The Beatles, Into It. Over It., CAKE, Death Cab For Cutie, Nujabes, Built to Spill, Neutral Milk Hotel, Incubus, Modest Mouse, Maps and Atlases, Owen, The Dismemberment Plan, Spawn of Possession (I do like a lot of metal as well, though it does not get as much rotation as it used to), blink 182, Michael Jackson, Between the Buried and Me, and Queen, just to name a bunch.

Also, lots of video game soundtracks get played ;) Undertale in particular has a phenomenal soundtrack, which single-handedly inspired me to begin learning how to play piano.

My favorite food: Italian, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Mediterranean, you name it.
The six things I could never do without
1) Coffee
2) Guitar
3) Video games
4) Music in general
5) Anime
6) Kung Fu
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I want to do to progress in life. I used to think a lot about my future and whether or not I could succeed in my goals... but lately this has shifted to a focus on the now. For example, right now I am working on getting in shape, playing music and paying off my loans. My current job allows me to do these things, which is great. I am not sure if I will remain at this job, not that I don't enjoy it, because I do, but I guess I'm still not crystal clear what I ultimately want my career to consist of. For now I figure the best course of action is just working on self-improvement while enjoying my life as I see fit. It's easy for me to lose focus if I worry too much about the future.
On a typical Friday night I am
at home, watching a movie or playing a game =) maybe with friends, maybe not.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
A few years ago I had become a rather avid player of Magic: The Gathering, haha. I'm not embarrassed by it, but it seems fitting (and rather amusing) to put it here. Been a while since I played though!
You should message me if
