I am a full time software developer and I get to work remotely which I must say is pretty fantastic! I enjoy being able to work from home.
Currently I am living with a few friends in the Chicago suburbs. I plan on moving to the city next year after my current lease is up.
My primary hobbies include writing/performing music, programming, kung fu, and playing tennis.
I really love traveling to new places. I tend to try to visit a new country at least once a year for my vacation time.
For my down time, I enjoy playing video games, though usually my other hobbies take precedence these days. As you might have figured, seeing as I'm a programmer I also happen to be a major geek. I grew up playing lots of Nintendo games, particularly Zelda. I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy and RPG games in general. Lately I've been playing Dark Souls quite a bit... I also enjoy watching anime and various TV shows on Netflix. Favorite shows and whatnot are listed below!
While I do love going out sometimes, I generally find myself most comfortable at home with few to no people, just hanging out watching YouTube, Netflix, etc or playing games.
I moved to Detroit for two years for a full time software development job, and now currently work the same job from home back in the Chicago suburbs.
I enjoy programming a lot! I particularly like video game programming and I currently am working on a game with a couple friends part time.
I write and record my own music, although it's been hard keeping up working full time and all. At least at any given time I am usually playing with some friends for either a cover band or a solo project, which is a great way for me to keep up with playing music right now.
I also have been training Kung fu since 2013 and I take it pretty seriously. It has improved my quality of life quite significantly.
I also enjoy running and playing tennis as often as I can!
But those that I have read that I can think of at the top of my head that I love are The Hobbit, Glass Castle, Life of Pi, Concrete Island, and The Secret Adversary.
When I do read I usually like to read world history texts, or about politics in general which sounds boring I know, but I find it fascinating. It only fuels my desire to travel even more :D
I tend to read up a lot on politics which lately I've been rather passionate about. I find myself mostly a progressive (yuge Bernie supporter, who will reluctantly voted Hillary this last cycle) but I am down to debate issues with anyone who wants to!
My favorite movies are usually ones starring certain actors I love:
Johnny Depp, Paul Giamatti, Gene Wilder, etc. I like a lot of different types of movies, but I tend to gravitate towards series films like those of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Lord of the Rings/Hobbit, Hunger Games, and the like.
It should also go without saying that I also love Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki films!
My favorite shows: Parks and Recreation, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Firefly, Angel, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, One Piece, Scrubs, 3rd Rock from the Sun, How I Met Your Mother, Agents of SHIELD, Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Agent Carter, Various Nickelodeon 90's shows, Soul Eater, Trigun, Dragon Ball Z, Samurai Champloo, Gurren Lagann, etc
My favorite music: American Football, Minus the Bear, Sufjan Stevens, The Beatles, Into It. Over It., CAKE, Death Cab For Cutie, Nujabes, Built to Spill, Neutral Milk Hotel, Incubus, Modest Mouse, Maps and Atlases, Owen, The Dismemberment Plan, Spawn of Possession (I do like a lot of metal as well, though it does not get as much rotation as it used to), blink 182, Michael Jackson, Between the Buried and Me, and Queen, just to name a bunch.
Also, lots of video game soundtracks get played ;) Undertale in particular has a phenomenal soundtrack, which single-handedly inspired me to begin learning how to play piano.
My favorite food: Italian, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Mediterranean, you name it.
2) Musical instruments
3) Laptop (for my job and side projects)
4) Music in general
5) Kung Fu
6) Video games
For now I figure the best course of action is just working on self-improvement while enjoying my life as I see fit. It's easy for me to lose focus if I worry too much about the future.
