Let's see... My self-summary... Basically, I'm the definition of Awesome. Go ahead, check your dictionary. I'll wait... :P
I am outgoing and funny. Generous. Smart. Part Dorky. Part Nerdy. Part Geeky. I'm thoughtful and can be a teensy bit neurotic (I was born Jewish, it's in my blood).
I can be a Super Bitch, but that's actually one of the qualities people tend to love most about me. I'm blunt, direct, and brutally honest... For the most part.
Oh, and I am never, ever sarcastic. Ever.
I'm passionate about what I believe in. I stand up for myself. I stand up for those close to me. I love to argue. I am easily riled up, but almost never seriously, and I get over shit ridiculously fast... Guys tend to enjoy riling me up because I apparently have fantastic facial expressions... I don't get it myself. But, it's a pattern I've noticed.
I love hiking and exploring the outdoors (I <3 Metro Parks!). I try to live a healthy lifestyle, with a healthy diet and regular exercise. I'm a vegetarian, I don't eat fast food, and I try to limit the intake of crap as much as possible, lol. Moderation is a slippery slope for me, so it's best to stay away entirely.
I love trail running, or any kind of running that takes place outdoors, but I'm not opposed to a treadmill. In fact, I've totally changed up my workout routine and now belong to a gym. *Gasp*. The horror! The horror!
I put on a bit of weight over the winter, hence the gym membership! -- So yes, I'm a bit heavier than in the pics I currently have up, but maybe by, like, 15 pounds? Nothing too drastic.
Currently, I am amassing a number of part-time nanny gigs... Very glamorous.
Eventually, at some point, I'm going to finish the B.S. in Zoology that I started at OSU.
It seems as though it will never happen.
*epic sad face*
After I DO finish, then I'm going to go to grad school... somewhere. *cough* UC, Boulder *cough*. Definitely out of Ohio. *cough* UC, Boulder *cough*.
I'm pursuing a career in animal welfare & conservation. While I've considered a D.V.M., I'm most passionate about Cognitive Ethology (Animal Behavior & Wildlife Biology).
Ideally, I would join forces with Marc Bekoff, Jane Goodall, Jack Hanna, and a reincarnated Charles Darwin, to form a Voltron-esque Super-Robot that shoots vaporizing laser beams directly into the souls of animal abusers, poachers, and smugglers.
... And Jeopardy :)
Also my hair, which is crazy and wild, and my boobs, which are disproportionately huge and therefore hard to miss.
I've been a reading machine this year, currently working my way through A Dance For Dragons, book 5 of A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin (Game of Thrones?).
I read books about animals (The Emotional Lives of Animals), nature (Winter World), health (The Secrets of People Who Never Get Sick), and political movements such as Feminism (When Everything Changed) or Environmentalism (World Changing).
From time to time I also read autobiographies (Like A Lampshade In A Whore House), literary classics (Emma), comedic and/or satirical writings (The Know-It-All), random geeky kiddie lit (Septimus Heap series), young adult vampire/witch books (The Secret Circle), trades (She-Hulk), and graphic novels (MouseGuard). I've also read a lot of science fiction - Philip K. Dick, Ray Bradbury, etc.. And am getting into more fantasy (peer pressure :P).
I currently subscribe to: The Journal of Animal Behaviour, Scientific American: Mind, Women's Health, and Shape. I'm considering cancelling Shape and subscribing to Fitness instead.
I love movies, too. Sooo much. Maybe not as much as I used to, but still, quite a bit.
Some faves: The Abyss; Alien (et al.); American History X; Avatar; Back To The Future; Big Daddy; The 'Burbs; Demolition Man; Enemy of the State; The Fifth Element; French Kiss; The Fugitive; Funny Girl; Groundhog Day; Houseguest; The Little Mermaid; The Matrix (FIRST ONLY); Meet Joe Black; The Mothman Prophecies; Mrs. Doubtfire; The Muppets Take Manhattan; Newsies; The Odd Couple; One Fine Day; Planes, Trains, and Automobiles; Pleasantville; Poltergeist; Predator (et al.); Role Models; Sneakers; Soylent Green; Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home; Star Wars (Episodes IV, V, VI... Especially VI); StarGate; The Sting; Straight Talk; Talladega Nights; Team America: World Police; Teen Witch; Underworld; Walk the Line; Wall-E; While You Were Sleeping; Working Girl; Zero Effect; and tons more...
I enjoy most genres in general, except for foreign (some are weird, some are great, and some are really fucked-up weird), indie (some are good, most - that I've come across - are pretentious), and horror/slasher (I like scary movies, even the Japanese super-scary ones. I like suspenseful movies that freak you out. I do NOT like insane movies like Saw, or MOST zombie movies) -- Recently saw Cabin in the Woods, didn't think I would like it -- Loved it!!
I also love TV. Though, nowadays I barely watch anything.
Let's see, what's good... Game of Thrones (obviously); Rookie Blue; The IT Crowd; Sherlock; Modern Family; The Big Bang Theory; Parks & Rec; and True Blood (though I've only watched the premiere of this season).
I also love Jeopardy (yes, I am aware I mentioned Jeopardy earlier); Dateline; NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams (and Lester Holt on the weekends); The Colbert Report; The Daily Show; South Park (sometimes); Archer; Pretty Little Liars; 16 & Pregnant; Teen Mom; Most of the shows on HGTV; Supernanny (the chubby british lady with glasses); The First 48 Hours; Dateline's To Catch A Predator; and It's Me or the Dog (with the skinny british lady); The Good Wife; Blue Bloods; and New Girl... Is that it? Like I said, I barely watch anything anymore...
Classics: The X-Files; Quantum Leap; ST:NG; Columbo; Friends; Seinfeld; Mad About You; Law & Order; Law & Order: SVU; Medium; Sex and the City; Everwood; Gilmore Girls; and The Cosby Show.
I am all-over the board when it comes to music... Nearly every genre. I tend to be more artist-centric than sticking to any particular genre. I don't really like Jazz or Blues or Polka or Swing.
I hate Britney Spears; Beyonce; Jason Mraz; U2; and Michael Buble.
Currently on the charts, I like: Rihanna; Adele; Mumford & Sons; um... I'm not even sure what's on the charts these days, Lol.
I like Classical music (I played violin for about six years or so, and briefly played piano -- maybe two years, and I played trumpet for a whole semester in the fifth grade!). Especially Bach's Brandenburg Concertos No. 2 & No. 3.
I like Oldies, like: Dusty Springfield; the Beach Boys; Harry Belafonte; the Beatles; Elvis; and Bobby Darin.
I like old classic country, like: Johnny Cash; John Denver; Willie Nelson; and Dolly Parton.
I like Classic pop/rock,punk chart toppers, (read: 70s, 80s), like: Billy Joel; Elton John; Neil Diamond; the Ramones; David Bowie; Black Sabbath/Ozzy; Cyndi Lauper; Blondie; Madonna; Queen; R.E.M.; They Might Be Giants; Huey Lewis & the News; Joan Jett; Pink Floyd; the Doors; and Janis Joplin.
I like more recent-ish stuff (read: 90s), like: Green Day; Nirvana; Weezer; Goo Goo Dolls; Liz Phair; Eve 6; No Doubt (before Gwen Stefani lost her mind); Flogging Molly; Sublime; Sum 41; Blink 182; Everclear; Barenaked Ladies; Gorillaz; Dropkick Murphys; and Eminem; (and Akon... Ok, he's not really 90s, but he's also not really super current, so... Wasn't sure where to stick him... But I luvs him).
I also like more folk-y type stuff, like: Dar Williams; Kasey Chambers; Tegan & Sara; Mike Perkins; and Camera Obscura.
b) Human animal companions.
c) H2O (l) and H2O (s).
d) Pen & Paper.
f) A really good pillow.
- Do you love and appreciate animals?
- Do you live a healthy lifestyle (for the most part)?
... and you answer 'no' to these questions:
- Are you a hipster (*cough* douchebag *cough*)?
- Are you politically Conservative/Libertarian/Tea Party Republican?
