My self-summary
Hello! This is my first time trying the online dating scene (which I'm sure is true for a lot of people), so I'll do my best to summarize even though I really have no idea what I'm doing.

First off, the ultimate question: Who am I? (The answer is NOT 42; bonus points if you get the reference). For most of my life I've been in some sort of school or another, so I'm always eager to learn something new. The result of all that school is that I'm now an engineer, working what has pretty much been my dream job. It has also shaped my life in many other aspects. I'm an organized person, I don't often get angry, and try to approach problems rationally. I love science and the amazing wonders that it reveals. I am a quiet person, but I still like to have fun (who doesn't?). I enjoy reading, movies, spending time with my close group of friends, and playing games (video or board, doesn't matter to me). I pride myself on my great sense of humor; I can take a practical joke (as my coworkers have proven time and again; just prepare for the retaliation).

Now what am I looking for? I'm looking for a partner, not a hook-up or short-term deal. Someone that I can share anything and everything with, and hopefully someone that would be willing to share the same with me. I'd really like the kind of partner that is really a best friend (do they work out if they aren't?). I'd also really enjoy being introduced to new activities, so if you don't share the exact same interests as me, that's okay with me, I'm willing to try anything new (be forewarned, though, my dancing will never improve).
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an engineer working in the aerospace industry (if that sounds interesting, I can definitely go into more detail).

I'm currently training for the Disney Dark Side half-marathon in April 2016. I've never run one before, so this will be interesting.

I'm also busy fixing up my house. I didn't intend to buy a fixer-upper, but apparently I did. Right now the floors are just concrete. Fun!
I’m really good at
- Random trivia. I'm like a walking version of Wikipedia.

- Tearing things apart. Unfortunately, I'm not as good at putting them back together again. I always learn something in the process though.
The first things people usually notice about me
My sense of humor. I can make a joke out of just about anything (when appropriate, of course). Being able to laugh at the small stuff can greatly reduce the amount of stress in your life. I highly recommend it!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Since I read way too much for work and school, any reading I do for entertainment couldn't be considered "heavy". Science fiction or fantasy, with a smattering of Stephen King in the mix. I'm a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, Game of Thrones, Dune, and of course, Lord of the Rings.

Movies: If it makes you think, I'll probably enjoy it. Again, though, science fiction or fantasy are staples for me. I absolutely love horror movies, though. I'm always up for a good scare (sadly, not much scares me anymore)! Aliens is my all-time favorite.

Shows: More scifi staples here. X-Files is my all-time favorite. Lost, Firefly, Fringe, BSG. Breaking Bad was excellent. Also a fan of Community, Parks & Rec, and The Office. BBC is making some excellent TV. Sherlock is amazing.

Music: I've rediscovered my love of 80's and 90's music (except country and rap/hip hop, I've never enjoyed those).

Food: I'm willing to try almost anything, although for the most part I'm a fairly picky eater. I'll never pass up a good steak though. I have a shellfish allergy (not serious) so I tend to avoid most seafood.

What isn't listed here is games. Video or board games. I play them both. But not your standard board games, like Monopoly. More like Arkham Horror, Dominion, and Pandemic.
Six things I could never do without
In no particular order (and I couldn't think of six; aside from the standard family and friends, there isn't much I could never truly do without):

- Golden Double Stuf Oreos (yum!)
- A good read
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Space! What's out there? How far will we get in my lifetime? Will I ever get to go?
On a typical Friday night I am
If I'm with friends, we usually grab dinner and then go to a movie or hang out at someone's house. We're not a party or club crowd, but still enjoy our time together.

If I'm not hanging out with friends, I'm usually at home catching up on whatever the latest book I'm reading or playing some games.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Hmmm, I'm not sure what I would consider too private. I guess just ask me something, and I'll let you know.
You should message me if
- You're looking for a longer term relationship.

- You're a geek at heart!

- You like science and learning new things about the universe.
