My self-summary
What you see is what you get with me – I’m can be very straightforward, an open book if you will. Perhaps in contradiction of myself, I can also be quite shy so it'll take getting to know someone properly before opening up. I’m an excellent listener, and like to make myself useful. I fear I come across as awkward, but I’ve been informed that I’m ‘endearingly so’, so that’s alright. I love a good laugh, though subtlety will quite often go straight over my somewhat innocent head.
What I’m doing with my life
By day, I’m a theoretical physicist who likes computers. By night, I’m… still a physicist, to be honest, just a slightly less overworked one. But I do have time for fun sometimes, honestly. I’m a keen long-distance runner, I’ve completed a few marathons and I’m hoping to do as many as I can across the world. And I do the odd bit of acting – I starred in the world’s first stage production of Terry Pratchett’s Good Omens, exploring my saintly side as the angel Aziraphale.
I’m really good at
Making tea! :) But seriously, I’m good at lots of things. I taught myself Advanced Higher physics, maths and mechanics. Remembering random/odd things. I can swim breaststroke faster than some people can front crawl. And I rock at Just Dance. Oh yeah.
The first things people usually notice about me
How blissfully ignorant of the world I am...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My tastes are pretty broad to be honest, though I have to say that one of my all-time favourite book series is the Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind. I’m fairly open-minded with music and like listening to new material when people recommend it. I currently listen to a lot of metal, classical, pop… a bit of everything really. My favourite tv series are pretty mixed too – I love goofy sitcoms like Friends and Big Bang Theory, and sci-fi/ fantasies like Supernatural and Doctor Who. I really couldn’t pick a favourite!
The six things I could never do without
1) Cups of tea, especially Earl Grey!
2) friends
3) computer games
4) good music
5) good laughs
6) towel
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The worlds I would explore if I could write, what the future holds, and continually-updated survival strategies for the impending zombie apocalypse (including how I would set up defences in random buildings, of course).
On a typical Friday night I am
Defending the shores of Great Britain against the nazi onslaught, experimenting in a clandestine laboratory and developing my own rocket program. The usual.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I accidentally robbed a pharmacy!
You should message me if
You’re open and honest and think you’d be a good friend. You’re not afraid to have a different opinion or play devil’s advocate – I enjoy a good debate. You've long since said your farewells to traditional definitions of sanity and have an interesting personality.
