My self-summary
I'm almost always in a pretty good mood. I think that while I am a (self-proclaimed) realist, my reality is usually tinged with a positive outlook and a belief in people. I have a big heart which I wear on my sleeve, both a curse and a blessing. I am very empathetic, and love to love things.

I think our world is beautiful and that there is so much to learn. In college I was a neurobiology major, but made sure to dabble in psychology, music, comparative literature and poetry as well. I like getting to know people. I like planning for something and getting really super fucking pumped for it. I like to spontaneously spend hours in the woods, and I also like marathon movie nights with baked goods and tea.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm finishing up medical school, and despite the pressure and the crazy hours I'm loving it. I'll be applying to train in psychiatry, and intend to specialize in child and adolescents.
I’m really good at
I guess I'm good at feeling weird about listing things I'm "really good at."

In addition, I'd like to think I'm fairly good at being a decent person. Throughout life I've realized the importance of accepting people and really internalizing the fact that everyone has had a different childhood, different interactions with people, different world view molded by their unique experiences. With that in mind, I try to withhold judgment (it's a matter of infinite hope,) and be kind, open minded, and tolerant. It feels good, to be kind and patient, and to remember how individual our experiences are, which interestingly is a commonality in all of us.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told that I come off as genuine. I am not too good at lying, and it is pretty easy to tell what mood I am in. I am try to be frank about things, though I do make a conscious effort to phrase things sensitively if need be. I don't usually BS or waste time, and I appreciate such reciprocation.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a big fan of John Green, Malcolm Gladwell, Markus Zusak, George R. R. Martin and Patrick Rothfuss. I've read some Orson Scott Card, Jim Butcher, Sarah Dessen, and Jodi Picoult. I have pretty eclectic taste in almost everything, I actually really like those "classic" books we had to read in high school. I'm currently reading Far From the Tree, by Andrew Solomon, which is inspiring and amazing. Definitely message me if you want to chat about it!

I really enjoy most movies, especially if they aren't action. Favorites include Moulin Rouge, Forrest Gump, basically any Disney or Pixar movie, the LOTR trilogy, Remember the Titans, 500 Days of Summer, almost any movie with Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Dustin Hoffman in it.

Television is my drug, Netflix my dealer. I belatedly made my way through Breaking Bad recently. Previous obsessions include Firefly, Doctor Who, Arrested Development, GoT, 30 Rock, Parks and Rec, Freaks and Geeks, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sherlock, Luther, basically scifi and crime drama. But first, I was a Friends fan, and always will be.

My musical taste is rather varied. My regulars include Guster, Twenty One Pilots, Regina Spektor, Mika, Mumford and Sons, Fleet Foxes, and The Shins. I will also shamelessly jam out to Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, T Swift and Lady Gaga. I absolutely love musicals. I will listen to some rap or hip hop but I won't pretend to understand what they're saying. I play piano and violin, so of course I'm your average Beethoven and Mozart fan yadda blah but Shostakovich, Dvorak, and Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninoff, those crazy Russian/Czech geniuses can really get my adrenaline going.

I am for almost all food.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order: Fresh air/sunlight, family, friends, meat, books, song.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What makes people who they are, how to play my part in this world to try to improve it while not forgetting to improve myself, what I will eat for my next meal, how awe-inspiring our earth is and how very lucky I am to get to experience it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Spending time with my friends, cooking something delicious, binging a show, watching movies, or the stars. If I'm particularly motivated, maybe the gym.
You should message me if
you want to have interesting conversation, take a walk, grab food, and/or make a friend.
