My self-summary
I am an outgoing and friendly person, I can be quiet (but not shy), I'm optimistic and light, easy company. But don't be fooled by my light and relaxed exterior, inside I'm a complex mess of deep thought and a seeker after truth.

I love - cinema, the theatre, literature, art, music,
I hate - sport, television, politics, polite conversation, tea.

I love learning, just for its own sake. I'm always teaching myself something new. Right now I'm learning Welsh and how to play the piano. But I have a very short attention span. I get really excited about a subject for a few months or a year, and then I get bored and never look at it again. This means that I'm a jack of all trades and master of none. I know the rudiments of a hundred subjects, but I'm not really very good at anything.

Socialising - I'm a pub person, not fond of clubs, because I think the point of socialising is conversation, and nightclubs are the natural enemy of conversation (I've always thought it odd that clubs are where you go to meet new people, while at the same time being the worst possible place to meet people). I also like pubs because they sell beer, which I've always been very fond of. Also up for any kind of party, particularly if it involves dressing up, or acting in a theatrical way.

I'm an aesthete (man, that sounds pretentious now that I've written it down!) I always search for and recognise beauty in all things, art, music, literature, but mostly just in the world around me. I'm surprised that most other people don't appear to do this. Maybe they do, but they don't seem to.

I'm in the middle of writing a trashy novel.

I've taken the art of procrastination to whole new levels.

What else? Well I guess I'm a bit of a loner. I don't like to rely on anyone except myself. It's probably this fierce independence that has kept me single to this ripe old age. On the other hand, I'm very sociable and I love people, particularly clever funny people who don't take themselves or life in general too seriously.

I am clever, likeable, and unconventional
What I’m doing with my life
I have a proper grown up job.
I’m really good at
Drawing - I spent a long time trying to make my way as an artist, but eventually I had to get a day job. I can still dream though.

I'm also really good at helping people to get drunk.
The first things people usually notice about me
my thick Welsh accent.

Six things I could never do without
1) having female friends, I don't necessarily mean girlfriends, I've just always preferred women over men as company.

4) daydreaming, my main hobby.
5) BBC Radio Four, an oasis of intelligence in a desert of ignorance.
6) since I've got one left, I guess I'll have another beer.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Some recurrent questions that are never far from my thoughts -
How many cups of coffee is 'too many'?
Can browsing the internet be legitimately considered as 'work'?
Would it betray my working class roots if I hired a maid?
On a typical Friday night I am
In my local.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well I already told you I like chick lit - what could be more embarassing than that?
You should message me if
you feel like messaging me. Please go ahead, I don't bite (but I am a fast learner).
