My self-summary
I suppose I should start with my's Nathan. To be honest I never know what to put on these "summaries." Generally speaking, I'm a pretty outgoing and social person, although I find meeting people via the internet a bit strange.

Long story short, I've decided that it's worth a shot to branch out and meet a like-minded individual, so here I am.

That being said, I feel like I'm very open-minded and and non-judgmental person, so I will talk to just about anyone who wants to say hello, although I prefer longer conversations as opposed to short back and forth messaging.

I'm a huge fan of all things creative: art, music, movies, books, etc. I like to play guitar, listen to all sorts of music and paint pictures when I get a surge of inspiration. Used sing in a band a few years back, but it was definitely fun while it lasted. Not quite sure what else to write here, but feel free to ask me anything!
What I’m doing with my life
Just trying to get by right now, keeping my head up high, and having a positive outlook towards the future.
I’m really good at
Meeting new people, making friends, and retaining all sorts of useless bits of information. I always try to keep an open-mind, but I suppose that I could be considered cynical at times. Although, I've been told that behind every cynic, there was once an idealist.
The first things people usually notice about me
I suppose that depends on the person and what they're looking for...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite authors include: Kurt Vonnegut, Frederick Nietzsche, Hunter S. Thompson, George Orwell, Dalton Trumbo, Stephen King, Ken Kesey, William Burroughs, Chuck Palahniuk, Jean Paul Sarte. I also love collecting books on anything art related, and I'm fascinated by books pertaining to philosophy or religion.

Favorite artists include: Hieronymus Bosch, H.R. Giger, Auto Dix, Jean Michel Basquiat, Pieter Bruegel, Salvador Dali, Frank Kozik, Ralph Steadman, Joe Coleman, Picasso...the list goes on and on.

I don't watch a lot of TV shows, but I do watch a lot of different movies. I have way too many favorites to name, but I like independent films, especially those kind of movies that are so bad that they're good. I especially like low-budget / cheesy movies that no ones ever heard of. I also watch Hockey and football.

As far a music goes, I'm especially fond of old blues, jazz, 60's / 70's rock, bluegrass, punk, metal, progressive, and just about everything in between. I simply cannot make a list of specific bands on here, that would take way too long. I will say that I'm not a big fan of most pop music though (especially newer country). I also collect of vinyl, and love looking through dusty bins at flea markets and thrift stores for old records.

I try to go see live shows as often as I can (I will almost never turn down going to a local show), and meeting someone who enjoys branching out to go to see different live bands would be a plus.

Food-wise, I like to cook, and I will try anything culinary at least once...maybe twice. I especially like eating out at ethnic restaurants (sushi, Thai and Indian foods are my favorites), and I generally try to avoid fast food and chains.
Six things I could never do without
New Experiences
My two Pets (a Corgi and a cat named Miss Mittens)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
It varies from day to day...
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, relaxing at home, taking random trips to Chicago, going to a see a live band, painting, playing a video game, watching a movie, trying anything new as often as possible. I also love outdoor music festivals in the Summer, and I try to go hiking/camping whenever the weather is right (especially in the Fall).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a very social person and love to meet new people, although I'm generally a little bit shy and apprehensive at first when it comes to online dating.
You should message me if
You'd like to chat or get to know more about me, especially if you are interested in discussing books, art and/or music.

Please don't start a conversation, and then just suddenly stop responding. I wouldn't do that to anyone (unless they're just being rude), and would expect the same courtesy from others. I think it's much more brave to just say "not interested" or something like that.

I also promise not to be a pervert, ask for lewd pics, random hookups, etc. I genuinely want to meet someone for friends and hopefully a serious relationship if it all works out. Please just be open, up front and honest with me, and I will definitely do the same.
