I am finally at a point in my life where I am very comfortable being single and I am not looking for a relationship to fulfill me, but think good conversation, having a travel companion, and generally enjoying the company of another individual would be really nice.
I believe I can tell almost everything I need to know about someone by the books on their shelf, and appreciate deep and meaninful conversation. I am fairly big on social activism and have pretty strong opinions about social issues, and although I respect the views and opinions of others, I don't think I would be able to date someone overly religious, conservative or socially apathetic. I don't say this to be a bitch, but I find it pretty essential to be able to have someone who shares at least the basic belief system.
I love being spontaneous, taking small trips on the weekends, and thrift store shopping, but also find being at home with a glass of wine and a good movie or book enjoyable as well. I love being outdoors and go rock climbing regularly and love pointless road trips. I do not know how to cook or bake or sew, but I can cut the grass and change a tire, and think being called intelligent and insightful more of a compliment than hot or sexy.
Books/ Authors/Entertainers: Sylvia Plath, Harper Lee (To Kill a Mockingbird is my all time favorite book), Bill Hicks, Frida Kahlo, and almost any non-fiction.
Movies/TV: American Beauty, American History X, Life is Beautiful, History Channel, PBS/NPR (I know, I'm a nerd, but it's interesting), The Middle, Modern Family, The Amazing Race (I would love to do this with somebody some day.)
A nice bottle of wine
