My self-summary
Have to say upfront that I prefer locals -ie someone actually living in Melbourne, preferably in the inner suburbs.
And not too interested in the 20-35 yr olds who seem to be here in abundance. Sortof flattering and sortof not!

I'm looking for a warm, loving communicator who has a working knowledge of themselves & is affectionate - like I am! I'm passionate, playful & faithful- If there's connection & sizzle.

And you'll find a surprising depth to me. I'm supportive and perceptive= a good sounding board.

As an artsy fartsy, inner city type: I go to all those film and culture-vulture arts festivals, consume greedily: films, literature, exhibitions, music - esp like being immersed in music when I'm driving -fast if I can-caught up in that capsule of sound.

Also a physical type (not to be confused with sporty, as in competitive sports)- more like: dancing, body surfing, (ocean girl really), bushwalking, gym, kayaking.

Addicted to study - so..oo interested in ideas. And good sustainable design, architecture.
What I’m doing with my life
Having had some success with film festivals I'm now writing or rather endlessly re-writing 2 full length screenplays. I teach at uni part-time when I run out of money..
Collaborating with a designer on a sustainably designed, low maintenance house. Fun learning about rain gardens etc
I’m really good at
Intuiting or wheedling out of friends/ or partner what the hell they want to do with their life, what their strengths and special talents really are and then supporting them, side coaching them to get going with it. I don't think I necessarily wanted this gift, I just seem to have it...
The first things people usually notice about me
Eyes. Big infectious laugh. Very present. And then a bit dreamy..
People also mention my hands, that I have expressive hands..
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Portlandia, Borgen, The Drum (depends ), Melancholia, A Gun in Each Hand (Spanish) Celine & Julie Go Boating, Winter's Bone, Let the Right One In, I am Love, Stationmaster, Lives of Others, The Single Man, Ice Storm, Haneke, Wong Kar-wai, Ozu, Denis, Duras, Kaurismaki, Cohen Bros, MIFF

New band I like: Jack Ladder and the Dreamlanders. Listen to RRR, PBS. Some classical. Also blues- esp Chicago blues + Norah Jones. Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Amy Winehouse. Cat Empire. LCD Sound System, Killers, Kings of Leon, Elbow, White Lies

I like ideas, Alain de Botton- populist but full of clarity, Oliver Sacks, Chris Hitchins. Contemporary Australian, American and Scandinavian but also Murakami, Franzen , McEwan, David Mitchell, Lionel Shriver, Hilary Mantel. Not totally a George Eliot fan but Middlemarch is pretty amazing. Really !(first 30 pages are slow)

I'm an excellent cook, they say. And an even better eater: I've had strangers walk across to where I'm eating a meal in a cafe to say how much they enjoyed watching me eat. Spoils my meal actually...
Six things I could never do without
snuggling up

the natural world: let's start with water- oceans, rivers, waterfalls, lakes, pools, ponds, puddles, raindrops, hail, tropical drenching in electrical storms, mist, fog and the ready flow of tears (not all sad)

My Friend the Radio: RRR & PBS(music), ABC (The Philosophers Zone, All in the Mind etc) -keeps the neurones firing..

An intimate relationship -(the more intimate the better!)

banter: I think I can give good banter BUT only when the verbal chemistry is right, usually after time of knowing someone.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How not to be a sleepwalker in this life..
On a typical Friday night I am
no typical Friday... but I'm very fond of Friday nights - either letting rip - dancing etc, or a movie, a romantic night with a partner (sigh) or visiting friends... and having a damn good banter.. Used to do salsa on a Friday night - but now, Fridays can be a bit of a fizzer if I don't get organised...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm more tender-hearted than I care to admit... and ridiculously affectionate.
You should message me if
-If you have a pic. (sorry to be repetitive but...)
-You are LOCAL, in Melbourne, or perhaps Sydney (I visit there regularly) or an ex-pat ozzie who's about to return here (let's get practical)

You are fascinated by the workings of the human mind, emotions & psyche. You savour the absurd scenarios life throws up. Someone to chew over ideas with, banter with...
