My self-summary
By day I'm a busy professional engineer, I do structural engineering on a wide variety of infrastructure projects. It's not as boring as it sounds ... ;-)

Outside work I enjoy a wide variety of things: yoga (ashtanga), exercise and the outdoors (love hiking), travel, reading and intellectual pursuits, languages, great food/drink (I like cooking), conversation, sports, movies/music, games, humor etc. I am told by some I'm intelligent, interesting, and funny.

I'm looking to meet some interesting new people for friendship, fun and dating. I definitely would like to find something significant and serious but i think it's best not to put too much pressure on that right away. let's get to know each other and go from there, but if the sparks fly and we click I'm definitely game for committment.

Please Note: I'm unfortunately allergic to cats. It's not a deal breaker on my end if you have them but some flexibility on your part might be required if you do .... ;-)
What I’m doing with my life
Living it ... working as an engineer, learning about anything and everything, traveling, exercising, enjoying the outdoors, working on my Dutch, yoga ... and answering stupid questions on this site!
I’m really good at
making people laugh, cooking (well, i'm decent at it), my job ....

I'm getting better at yoga, when I started I couldn't touch my toes and now I can get a leg behind my head ... crazy!

What I'm not good at: typing (I'm horrible), filling out this thing! i wish i were better at languages, i love them and wish i could learn them all
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm not posing in my bathroom without a shirt? ;-)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: history mainly, the classics, thiller-type novels. I also stay current on politics, us and world events etc. For that type of thing I like the Atlantic, New Yorker, Economist, New York Times, LA Times. If you get your news on Fox News, we're definitely not on the same page ...

Music-wise i like a wide variety, everything from classical to rock to bluegrass to blues/jazz to singer-songwriters. I'm a little stuck in time I suppose in that I mostly listen to stuff that came out a while back but I do like newer stuff too.
Six things I could never do without
I've unfortunately gotten pretty attached to my iphone, which makes me laugh because I'm old enough to fondly recall the single rotary phone we all had in our kitchens with the 50 ft. cord on it!

yoga/exercise keeps me feeling good and sane so i'll add that

books/internet .... i like learning way too much to live without that
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. Ok, while true, i'll also be more specific. I think about making my life better, the world a little better, engineering problems (i get paid to do that plus it's interesting) .... but at any given moment who knows what's going through my head .... ;-)
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing after the work week, hanging out with a friend, eating some great food, it varies.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Yea right. Private = never put it on the internet!

One thing about me that is unusual is that although I make my living as an engineer, I'm also a highly trained and experienced massage therapist. Yea, go figure.
You should message me if
You want to! ;-)

Bonus points if ...
-You don't watch Fox News, think Obama was born in Kenya, etc.
-Your profile isn't in ALL CAPS.
-You live in Austin
-You're profile is accurate on basics like age, etc.
