My self-summary
Please do not contact me if you are looking for a third in your relationship. I came to OKCupid from Match because it allowed me to be honest about who I am. I was compelled to change my status to straight after so many people contacted me for threesomes or polyamorous relationships. While I don't have a problem with your choices, I am looking for a relationship with a woman OR with a man, not both. Move along if you are looking for something else.

I would like to meet someone special who is on their own path to self-discovery and is living honestly and fully. Relationships require attention, mindfulness, and above all else, communication.

At this point in my life I am focused on being mindful of the present and opening my heart to experiences and opportunities. I enjoy eating out and cooking in, watching college basketball, long walks, travel, talking over a glass of wine, good independent films, museums, and more.

All of this might sound hokey and idealistic, but I'm just hoping to find someone who isn't looking for a cheap thrill. I'm not perfect, far from it. But I do try to treat people well, with respect.

"For one human being to love another human being: that is perhaps the most difficult task that has been entrusted to us, the ultimate task, the final test and proof, the work for which all other work is merely preparation." ~Rainer Maria Rilke, trans. By Stephen Mitchell
I’m really good at
listening and helping people to see alternative perspectives. I have been told I have the ability to be calming in stressful situations.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd say most people comment on my eyes or my smile.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books? I don't tend to read many books a second time. One book I've read over and over is "I'm not Stiller" by Max Frisch. Are we ever able to walk away and say, "I'm not that person anymore. I don't know him/her"? Who hasn't stopped to wonder if they might be able to reinvent themselves? I typically read contemporary fiction (I am a fiction snob) or books on buddhism.

Movies? I have several favorites: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; World According to Garp; Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original); and most of all...Harold and Maude. As you can likely tell, I enjoy darker films.

My musical taste tends more towards Americana/Bluegress/Alt-Country. Favorites include Patty Griffin, Neko Case, Gillian Welch, and Jessica Lea Mayfield. Also adore the Decemberists, Zola Jesus, Mark Lanegan, Laura Marling, Hem, Gergory Alan Isakov, Feist, Angus and Julia Stone...

Food? I love to cook. I'm a one trick pony when it comes to baking- the shortbread cookie. For a long period of time I did the pesce-tarian thing. I'd like to get back to that for health reasons. As often as possible I use only fresh food. There is too much processed food in the world and I believe humans are suffering because of this. I am willing to try any food once, but I know what I don't like. Eggplant disgusts me!

Nurturing lovingkindness in myself and others.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Just ask and I'll tell you.
You should message me if
you are interested in what you see and read. I'd love to hear from you. I'm up for tea or a drink, something low pressure.
