My self-summary
Former chef turned Hospitality Manager chasing my dream of owning a restaurant. After a decade away I'm happy to be back in my hometown of Raleigh. When I'm not at work I spend time tinkering on my own menu, playing my guitar, and shooting pool. I like riding my bike and going for runs around the lake. A rainy day is best spent watching five episodes of something on Netflix. I love books. I can't wait to take another adventure to some far away exotic destination. I am prepared for the zombie apocalypse.
What I’m doing with my life
Running a restaurant. Trying to get the band back together. Testing recipes. Saving the galaxy. That sort of thing.
I’m really good at
Fixing things, opening jars and doors, getting things down, being warm, and listening. I cook and clean like I run a kitchen.
The first things people usually notice about me
i would hope that they notice i'm very smart, but i have been told i've got nice eyes...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books? no...authors! Thomas Pynchon, Neal Stephenson, Neil Gaiman, William Gibson, Julius Caesar, Elmore Leonard, Philip K. Dick, William Shakespeare (i know they were plays, but they're hilarious), JRR Tolkein, oh there's many more i just can't remember them all. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was quite good and frankly, zombies make Austen bearable. Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse was an enjoyable read. i'm not a stephen king fan, but i did read the dark tower series before he went on crack and started over on it. i like to read random historical and scientific books, too, like the Cycle of Cosmic Catastrophes, Banana, and 1491.

movies & tv? I love a gripping story. Hooked on the Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels, Justified, Game of Thrones. I love good scifi and I like spy movies a lot, too.

music....ok i'm a musician. don't ask me this. my favorites are Nine Inch Nails, Mozart, and the Rolling Stones. you know how people say they listen to everything, but later on you find out there's an "except rap" or "except country"? well, i really do listen to everything. Stuff you've never heard of. And I get really geeky about it.

favorite food? anything exotic. i love haute cuisine, and I'm a pretty good cook. i will eat anything...trying new things is my favorite! i especially love street food. My cooking is kind of a Southern fusion thing. Even though I run a kitchen I do my best cooking at home.
The six things I could never do without
1. The South. I like it here.
2. Good beer. Or good wine. I don't do liquor.
3. Atlanta Braves baseball. Fear the Chop.
4. Salt, pepper, and garlic. Those go in everything.
5. A radio/MP3 player. I need tunes.
6. A lake or an ocean or a river. I like water.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Food, music, stories, women, adventuring...
On a typical Friday night I am
working, unfortunately. In my line of work, everyone else's day off is my day on.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i was beaten as a small child and forced to live in the basement and eat leftovers once a week. private stuff on the internet for strangers? hahahahahahahaha
