My self-summary
I love music, playing guitar, hanging with friends, coffee, beer, philosophy and psychology. I love getting together with friends and just acting ridiculous. I think my role model for social interaction is Michael Scott. Kidding (maybe). I am warm, compassionate, and very accepting. I like making sure people are doing alright and having a good time. I try to stay active too. I like running, biking, hiking, canoeing, etc., but as a student usually don't have as much time or money to do as much as I'd like.

I really like writing songs, but its a slow process. I'm trying to finish some more songs and work up the courage to play at a coffee shop or something. I played a few shows back in Michigan with my friends but it was several years ago. I love the music scene in the PNW though and am heavily influenced by it.

I am unconventional, whimsical, and humorous
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a doctoral student at Antioch University Seattle. I love learning and advancing in my field. I hope to build a career around social justice work, perhaps in education. I'm also pondering the meaning of life, where I want my life to go, and stuff like that. I'm still getting to know Seattle as well by venturing out to see and try knew things.
I’m really good at
Cheering people up, writing and organizing papers, exaggerated impressions, making coffee, and bitchin' about my roommates messes all around the apartment.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm approachable and friendly, or that I'm kind of an oddball. Possibly my dashing good looks and chiseled features, but probably the other stuff more.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
a) I love Kafka, I like Philip K. Dick and Tom Robbins, Tuesdays with Morrie, but mostly psych texts, particularly those on existential psychology (Everyone should check out The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker). b) I like a lot of films that are in between indie and mainstream...or is that a contradiction. For instance I like Bubba Ho-tep, Napoleon Dynamite, Garden State, I <3 Huckabee, Punch Drunk Love, Magnolia, Donnie Darko, Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore and films like that. I also like some older films like Goonies and ET, but other films like Bourne Supremacy, Kill Bill and so forth. C) The Long Winters, Blind Pilot, The Little Ones, Matt Pond PA, Little Beirut, Weezer, Keane, Kings of Leon, The National, Nada Surf, Millencolin, Athlete, Band of Horses, The Cribs, Coldplay, The Notwist, Wheat, etc. d) I love pizza and fried foods, but am trying to eat a little better since i've been out here. I'm a fan of sushi and pho.
Six things I could never do without
In no particular order...

Umm... beyond those two things it would start to get arbitrary, like internet/laptop, car, money, etc., which I probably could do without. I do really like coffee, beer, football, and existentialism though!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how everyone needs to be a little friendlier and less inhibited.
On a typical Friday night I am
I could be doing anything from homework, listening to music, watching a movie at home or the theater, hanging out with a friend or a few, at the bar, playing guitar, exploring, etc.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My family made me watch the movie Annie a lot when I was younger, and I still really like it :-[
