My self-summary
Do you ever think Jerry Seinfeld is the wisest man to ever live? "Meeting is hard... This is what single people are thinking about the minute they wake up in the morning. And yet we’re surrounded by people, they’re right next to us, on the bus, on the street! But we can’t meet them."

I'm a native New Englander (Connecticut and Rhode Island) who's been in DC for 5 (going on 6) years. After a year of AmeriCorps, I worked for a domestic non-profit for five years where I traveled around the country building partnerships with corporations. I love to run (I always like to have my next half marathon in my sights!) and to stay active, though my absolute favorite thing in the world is a night at the Improv with a cold beer in hand - I'm a big comedy buff, and generally just love a ridiculous/story-making time. Maybe the easiest way to "get me" is that I am an Irish girl through and through. I like to be out-witted at the same time I try to out-wit you, I can hold my own with some old fashioned banter, I like a good pint and a long story, and when my family gets together, only 51% of us are going to remember it.

I'm genuinely interested in getting to know someone who would consider himself a "good guy" - fun to hang out with, interesting to talk to, searching for more in life, and interested in finding someone who can help them build something together.

Oh, and most people call me by my last name (a clue to my username), and I wear cowboy boots more often than not.
What I’m doing with my life
My life took a turn for the interesting when I decided to become the Executive Director of a non-profit in Tanzania (I'm based in DC). It was a wild turn, even for me, but one that has brought my life to a level of growth I couldn't have anticipated if I tried. Think Peace Corps 2.0, but with a different approach. I love every minute of it.

And the lay-overs in different European cities on my return flights aren't a bad perk of the job!
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told my laugh and my smile - I tend to do those a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love a good book and a good movie, but lately, it's been all about the TV shows. I'm a big fan of Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Always Sunny, 30 Rock, LOST, and you can name me a scene in the West Wing and I can (almost always) give you the episode it's from. But, lately, I'm all about Friday Night Lights. I went through the whole series recently, and I'm still emotionally grieving the end of that show! So amazing.
Six things I could never do without
1. My family and friends
2. Stand-up comedy
3. Live music (I'm not myself if I don't hear "shout" performed live at least every other month)
4. Providence College
5. New England in the fall
6. Good cocktails
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Equal parts the causes/effects of poverty and inequality in society and how often my life resembles Liz Lemon's. These are (usually) not in the same thought.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either out with friends in DC or boarding a plane for a weekend visiting friends and exploring the world. My friend and I made it our new years resolution last year to go to Bottom Line every Friday for their dollar Miller Lite night. Quite frankly, it was fiscally irresponsible to NOT go there every Friday night. A year later, it's still a favorite in the rotation.
