My self-summary
I'm a North Carolina native, yet somehow I lost my accent at a young age. Now, I'm a web engineer working for an education startup. I love hanging out with friends, cooking, watching movies, going to concerts, plays, operas. I'm always down for board games with friends. I enjoy learning, above all.
What I’m doing with my life
Figuring out how to be a better, more capable engineer. Thankful to be working at at a job I love, with people who are way smarter than me. The vision is to bring practical skills training to creative people all over the world and unleash their potential, at a universally accessible price.
I’m really good at
Making pizza from scratch. The dough is tricky, but if you get it right, it can be a glorious thing.
The first things people usually notice about me
"You have a nice smile," or, "You kinda look like Theon Greyjoy."

All The King's Men by Robert Penn Warren
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien

Dune by Frank Herbert
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
The Lord of the Flies by William Golding

The Decemberists, Band of Horses, Mumford & Sons, The Shins, Broken Bells, Youth Lagoon, Warpaint, José González, The Head and the Heart, Passion Pit, Beirut, Bonobo, Horse Feathers, Ray LaMontagne, Kings of Convenience, Johnny Flynn, Freelance Whales, Cake, Snow Patrol, Twin Sister, The Avett Brothers, Death Cab for Cutie, Young the Giant
The six things I could never do without
Hot sauce
Over easy eggs
Good coffee. No, I mean it. Good coffee
Time alone to reflect
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why people do what they do. I think understanding what drives someone to make a decision is the most important thing we can do to try to understand the world around us.
On a typical Friday night I am
Decompressing at a friend's place, with a good beer and a challenging game of Resistance, Coup, Dominion or Catan.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was deathly afraid of tornados growing up. I once peed my pants at my elementary school during a tornado drill.

To be fair, it was a warning, not just a watch. Serious stuff.
You should message me if
You enjoy dissecting a scientific theory almost as much as you enjoy taking a joke so far that it becomes funny again.
