My self-summary
With my life going through so much change lately, maybe it is time to just rewrite this. The first line of this profile used to read "I seek a life where I don't look back and regret what I didn't try. I believe in the power of dreams...and the bitter harvest of those untapped." For the past several years I have seen those dreams slowly fade into distant blurry outlines on the horizon. The notion of harvesting something for myself slowly replaced by tending everyone else's garden or just losing interest in having to raise two tomatoes to have one for myself. But to dwell on the past, I have learned is truly the most fruitless of endeavors. My future is becoming my own again. The weeds are being pulled between the rows. The horizon has drawn close again. My dreams are coming back into focus. I have a career path I am energized and challenged with again, and have been reminded of my value and importance.

I still believe in late night conversations at a Waffle House at 2am. I do think there is as much beauty in the grey streets of a metropolis as there is in the quiet mountains.

Life should be explored.

I identify as polyamorous and have a partner that is helping me get back to where I need to be. In turn, I am trying to help her grow into who she wants to be. Translation, we are both sort of mess... but each other's.
My dance card has been rebooted through this reclamation process and am excited at the idea of connecting with healthy and non selfish people.
I am conversation driven, admittedly fickle, and known to wander.
What I’m doing with my life
Professional hats I have worn...
I have been a pizza delivery guy and a bartender before moving into technology.
System administrator, DBA, analyst, project manager. Does any of that do it for you? Yeah... me neither. But I have worked with some amazing people and learned a lot.
I have been an IT Director for a non-profit pysch facility for children. It was probably the most draining job I have ever had.... but by far the most rewarding.

Now I work on the account management side of one of the largest technology companies in the world. If we get a cup of banter set up, I'll tell you all about it.

Travel is happening again. Costa Rica, Cuba and Europe are not safe from me. I might turn up anywhere.

Also, like everyone else,I have a novel that I never seem to get time to finish.

If you want to hear about how I spend my three years of unemployment after the economic implosion of 2009 ... just ask. Not sure if that needs to clutter this up anywhere.
I’m really good at
I am really good at long ambling conversations, particularly about movies. Plotting out road trips for myself and others is another skill I think I should be paid for. Ideally, being a sarcastic coffee swilling cynic would pay well. Sadly though, judging from the populace of the local haunts, it would be a saturated field.
The first things people usually notice about me
I usually sleep only four hours a night. I am not sure why... it runs on my mother's side of the family. I seem to have an opinion on almost anything... and will share it when provoked... and sometimes even when I am not (emphasis on the last part, but in a good way. Most of the time).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Some books: Neverwhere, American Gods, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. As far as series go...I like the fairy series by Laurrel K. Hamilton quiet a bit.
I think H.P. Lovecraft does not get the respect he earned for his writing.
Movies: I love the Coen Brothers...Big Lebowski, Miller's Crossing, O Brother Where Art Thou?, The Hudsucker Proxy. I also love schlocky horror films like Reanimator and The Dunwich Horror.
I also love crime films like The Usual Suspects to the classics like The Godfather.
Music: The Cure, Depeche Mode, Placebo, Josh Jolpin Group, The Decemberists, The Dimes, They Might Be Giants, Interpol, Tom Waits, Concrete Blonde are a few more modern selections...
I also love old blues like John Lee Hooker and Etta James...
Food: Tasty Chinese take out, Lowcountry Cajun, and Italian are my favorites...
Six things I could never do without
1. My friends
2. My laptop
3. Emotions that pick you up and carry you with them
4. Coffee
5. The open road
6. Conversations in bed at 3AM

and because I will put whatever I want here

7. The belief that tomorrow could be better than today if you are willing to make it that way.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How do I get out of this cycle of earn and spend to something more fulfilling?
*Update*
I think I finally figured this out! I definitely put experiences over material possessions nowadays.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends at the movies or lurking about a coffeehouse in search of refuge.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have come to accept that I get inside my own head far to often and easily. Also, I do have a "type" when it comes to women. When someone who fits into that wheelhouse comes along, I can make quite a scene in falling over myself to get their attention.
You should message me if
You are comfortable with yourself and have something to say. Life is about building and sharing stories.
